Found this at a thrift sale today. Nice low numbered auto /19. Wasn't like listed for $5 or anything but did well on it. Nice to see these cards out in the wild

I usually make my best finds at various local garage stores.

"Yard sales" in L.A. People are living in all the garages now.

I have lived in 5 different states and never heard that. They are rummage sales, garage sales, yard sales, and tag sales. The only time I have heard thrift used is in reference to a store like Goodwill, St Vincent de Paul, or the local Humane Society's fundraising store.

I've lived in three. Never heard that reference either and I go to all theses types of sales.
The most interesting thing is I have had several yard sales (the most general term I use). I have tried to sell cards at it, without anyone being interest in decent cards/decent prices. However, I had some random unopened junk wax packs and they all sold. :flex:

Had the same experience a few times.
Easier to sell a big box of commons for $20 than a Trout RC for $50...

Let’s be honest...it’s nice to just get out in the wild, let alone score a nice find.

I'm with you on the use of thrift in relation to actual brick and mortar stores, but out here, they're called Goodhill, St. Victor de Pail, or the Herman Society. I love shopping at them. They are where I get my prescription glasses at prices that beat those of any optometrist.

You guys have to pick it up elsewhere. We see a lot of "Estate Sales" in my area. Yard and garage sales are so low rent!

I never heard of them being called thrift sales.
It must be very regional since even others from your own state have said they have never heard such a thing.
Here is a Craigslist link to a thrift sale, so it's not just OP haha https://eauclaire.craigslist.org/gms/d/altoona-thrift-sale/6906151502.html
In Michigan they are Yard Sales, Garage Sales, Estate Sales, Tag Sale, or Rummage Sale.
I just wanted to leave proof for you so you didn't come across as wrong, because I thought you were haha.
Either way, nice Yelich picked up out in the wild.

Wow this thread is crazy. I have literally called “ sales from peoples homes that are usually in garages” thrift sales.... crazy to know that the term that I use is so localized to my area!!

Why do you think this is? Is it people who have no clue about baseball cards and still think the junk wax/commons are worth way more then what they really are?
