I picked this up recently and what set off warning bells for me is it moved in the slab. That plus all the scandals recently had me nervous. So what does everyone think? Altered or am I Paranoid?

As long as there is money to be made by grading cards, there is no reason to believe that a graded card isn't altered.

I have a couple of PSA and BGS slabs in which the card moves a bit. Doesnt mean its altered or fake, etc..

I mean, yours probably is.. but it doesnt matter if it moves.

J/K I'm being paranoid.. or are you?

Strange times.. strange times.

My 2014 Topps Base Masahiro Tanaka moves ever so slightly in its PSA slab. Some of my others dont move. I wouldnt get too worried.

And it starts....unfortunate but this thread is gonna be the new norm.
Might as well start a altered/trimmed/PSA checker thread sticky.

According to my CPU that card is oversized by 1 billion pixels....:D

I have several graded cards that are pack pulled that I know are not altered that move. Remember mny cards are slightly over-sized or undersized right our of the pack. It was even more common in vintage sets. I opened some 86 Topps Racks the other day and saw a difference in many of the cards when stacked up looking down the stack.

I'd say you should be paranoid, I watched this over the weekend.

My paranoia would correspond to how much the card sold for.

The more expensive the card, the greater the paranoia.

i'd be paranoid of any BGS or PSA card. starting to breaking some of mine out of the holders.

I guarantee it's altered. As a gesture of good faith, I will take it off your hands for $200.

It looks good to me - I wouldn't worry about it too terribly much, personally - I'd imagine only a minuscule # of cards have been affected. If it is slabbed, I believe that it is probably in line with the sizing tolerance parameters that PSA has - I don't think all 1968 Topps cards (or any vintage cards) were the same size. In other words, I don't think this would be considered undersized.

I’m curious as to your rationale for breaking out cards due to concerns about alteration?

Feels a little early to be breaking cards out of slabs. IMO.

I've been breaking cards out of slabs for quite a while now for my Canseco collection, but yeah - I would advise against breaking the vintage/key stuff out. PSA/BGS/SGC aren't going anywhere.

I have a bunch of PSA cards that I pulled and subbed myself and quite a few of them wiggle around a bit. Just depends on the thickness of the card I suppose.

I would not be worried about it at all. But that is just me. The card typically sells for right about $415(ish). I don't consider that a lot of money when talking about vintage cards. Don't get me wrong, it is not cheap by any means. I just question the person who would be altering it, slabbing it and then reselling it. I mean how much profit can be left after you take into account all those things? They are not going to get a PSA 2 all the sudden to jump to a PSA 5 and make a huge profit. Am I wrong on that? I get being able to alter a card and make it jump a point possibly a point and a half but would it be worth the time for this card? I mean a PSA 4 typically sells for $300-320. So we are looking at less than $100 profit to trim/alter this card and go through all the steps to resell it not counting the fee to resub it, ship it and then resell it and pay any fees you may incur using a platform like eBay.

OP, beautiful card. I wish I had one. I tend to think you're fine on this.
