My almost 8 year old son has started to get into collecting with me, which I love. I'll get him packs from time to time, buy him singles of cards he likes and i'll buy him a blaster here and there. He's never pulled an auto but has seen my get lucky and pull autos. His luck changed this weekend as I got him a blaster of 2019 Big League. At only $9.99 its a nice price for him to open up something. Well, he finally hit an auto(A's Pitcher). Even though he didn't know the player, he was so happy to pull an auto.

My first auto was pulled from 2002 Topps. Brad Wilkerson. Congrats to your son!

That's awesome, thanks for sharing. My oldest son is 8 y/o as well and he's slowly been getting into baseball cards (though his favorite is still Pokemon). We noticed last year that he and Ben Zobrist randomly shared a lot in common (team name Cubs, position 2b, name Ben, jersey number 18). A few weeks back I bought a cheap but nice looking Zobrist auto off ebay and gave it to him after his game last week. His eyes lit up like a Christmas Tree. Carried around with him for a few days and now has it displayed on a shelf in his room. That's what it's all about.

Wondering what they will get into when they get older.

back in 2012, i was in walmart and in the check out line. Looked over and said "hmm, baseball cards, i havent opened any in about 20 years". Grabbed a $20 box of 2012 bowman platinum. I just thought the name platinum was cool. I pull a redemption of Gerrit Cole auto relic. Worst mistake of my life.

Redeeming the redemption and waiting rather than selling it unscratched?

Lol, 2014 was for me trying to pull a Kris Bryant auto from Target Bowman hangers after a 20 year hiatus. 1992 Bowman & 1994 Topps Finest prior to that. Then got sucked back in collecting all the Dodgers prospects and now my two young sons have a new favorite hobby too.
