Fun watch. Takes me back when baseball was king. Now all I collect is basketball and sketch cards.

You feel for Stu throughout.
I wish there was more focus on cards, or personal relationship. There wasnt enough of either so not really pleased with it.

Started off pretty slow but then actually became very interesting towards the end. Would say more but will keep it secret for those who havent watched yet.

I liked it. Every time the hobby is discussed in major media, it’s always worth watching. Especially for those of you who were there for the late 80’s, early 90’s, give it a watch.
It’s probably 30% cards, 70% Stu’s story.
It’s TV-MA but pretty tame. Couple of F-bombs, but pretty tame in my opinion

Did anybody else get the vibe Stu was more or less acting? I had enough time last night to catch the first 35 minutes or so and it just seemed unnatural, almost shot like a staged "reality" show.
I laughed when the card box "incident" went down. Lmao, there's no way that wasn't scripted.

Finished. Cool doc, not great but I was pleasantly surprised. Worth the watch.
Problem is now I want a REAL card doc. The appetite is worked up.

Tell me it didn't wet your whistle for something better, though.
Speaking of, anyone with a recommendation?

I watched it today. It was more about the dudes family than the sports card industry. If you’ve been a part of the hobby for awhile there’s really nothing in there you won’t already know. That said, it was an interesting story and I still enjoyed it.

I was on the fence on whether or not I'd watch this, but now that i know Don West makes an appearance, I'm sold.
Man, if they made a documentary that revolved around the life of Don West I'd drive down to Hollywood to be at the premiere.

Watched last night. I think it’s worth watching. Are they telling us anything any of us don’t already know about the baseball card collapse? NOPE. But realistically what kind of baseball card documentary would?
Some of this seemed staged and it was ridiculous to think he didn’t research 80s and early 90s card values before being told his collection is worthless. But regardless it’s worth an hour plus of time I would say.
I did see a quick flash of garbage pail kids cards in his mess of boxes. Hope he didn’t burn those. They are probably the most valuable item in his collection!

It was an enjoyable documentary. Definitely more about human relationships than cards. Brought me back to the good ole' days with the 1987 Topps (my first Topps set).

When you guys say Stu are you talking about Stuart Scott?
I don't have NETFLIX.
You guys told me if I use Torrent, you'll never be my friend again, so i've stopped.

now if it were a documentary about don west, i'd tune in.

No, Stuart Smalley.

A few good tidbits, like the pretty solid testimony that yes, indeed griffey UD were overproduced, and even into the next year. Those were the only 3 min I took away from the whole thing
But overall found it pretty elementary, and all over the place.
Also it was way, way too much about his family past, instead of actually being about cards.
Yes, we get it, your dad was a huge wax guy. Totally understandable opening. Do I personally care if he is shady or now vindicated? Nope
Do I care where he is now and if you will talk to him? Nope
Oh, and no Stu, no one uses Beckett to still price

Hell yeah.....Don West is a straight PIMP. Having him on the doc even for a few minutes was a great surprise. Dude did more coke off a hooker's rear end in the 90's than Gun N Roses on tour.

Main guy bugged me so much that I stopped watching right after they visited the old shop’s location. I knew it was just gonna turn into more whining and more disfunctional family drama.

Is there any other documentaries on card collecting? Know that there´s one from Australian Production company (can´t remember the films name). Also where can I see them if Im outside USA?

Watched it yesterday. I enjoyed it mildly, just because it was about cards. But as a documentary itself it blows. The whole thing was too staged for me.
Like he didn't do any research about the value of cards or the first & second card he pulls from his piled up junk is a Jose and a Ken Griffey JR.
The other people involved (like his buddy) in the story showed zero interest what so ever.
It's a pity. The focus should've been on the cards and the hobby, and not about his family.
If you wanna watch a good documentary about family drama, go watch Dear Zachary. This has nothing to do with cards. But that's how you make a proper documentary.

He ignored what cards are like today 100 percent. Could have easily fit into his narrative and explained why what he had was not in demand. Could have easily helped bolster the story, helping it not rely on "him."

Watched this piece of trash last night. Guy goes on a quest to find out why his 90's baseball cards are worthless and on the journey reunites with his estranged father. I had the same enthusiasm watching this as his documentary crew had filming it....none.

I was pumped when I saw this. But I have to admit, I got bored with it pretty quickly. I wish there was a documentary about the modern hobby and how things are nowadays. It would be cool to see part of it shot at the National and interviews with collectors we all know, including all the big dealers.

As it’s being shot and the show shows kids enjoying themselves and being excited about the hobby and the crowd is huge and everybody has good feels and selfies for their instagrams, the feds raid the place and the doc is dubbed over by the bad boys soundtrack and it takes a dark turn
I’d watch it

Well said. I agree.
The optimistic perspective is that the sheer success of this film -- the fact that it got a Netflix deal, that it has over 4 million streams, that it has been #1 trending on Netflix -- is a testament to the enormous demand for sports card content.
The filmmaker went to the National this year and gave a few interviews. Here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Z5Zppgmj5o)'s an interesting one.

Saw the documentary. I've never seen an episode of Dr. Phil. However, I would imagine that an episode of Dr. Phil is like the documentary.

The Foul Ball Paul stuff I thought was cool. I thought the burning of the cards at the end was out of place for someone who "enjoys" cards?? Stu's ego shows through---overall pretty staged but fairly entertaining.

a five second google or ebay search could have given this dope the information about his worthless mass produced, then suddenly run over by a car at a card show card collection. I had to turn it off.
