Just had a sale of a card I was trying to get $560 for. Buyer originally offered $500. We settled on $530.

Thing is, he is paying 10% sales taxes so he would not pay my $560 as it would be over his budget.

So this is my first hit of a higher sale not being realised due to ebay taking taxes as well.

This is just a money grab. I am not in the state it went to. There is no one paying overhead. Your government hard at work.

I have been on this planet a long time. The little guy continues to get jobbed.

Pretty soon in this world it will cost money to just turn around.

The buyer is the real piece of work here. Deadbeat.

The buyer went less than 4% over some arbitrary budget and can no longer pay? That's someone who shouldn't even be buying cards and is just looking for an out for something they can't truly afford.

While I agree buyer is wrong here we’ve just seen able to get away not paying taxes for years

I'm not sure why the bidder is a deadbeat. He has expenses attached to buying the card, so he haggled to the point, it was within his range to afford it. The fact it is the new taxes applied is just reality.

So, if you're so mad about the $530, why accept the offer? Wait for a buyer willing to meet your asking price.

I am only upset that the tax man has entered the fray. This impacts all of us whether you believe it is ok, right, wrong etc.

Its only a matter of time before all online purchases are taxed in some way or another.

It will happen. I hate taxes as much as anyone but the states want their money, they tried the honor system for years and it did not work.
