So there is already the well-documented NCAA rules change for college bats to not be cannons this year, but I was blown away by the picture of the new TD Ameritrade Park on Baseball America's website today. Look at how much foul territory there is. It looks like there might be more foul territory than the Oakland Coliseum (or whatever Corporate Sponsorship name it has these days). So much for the old 14-11 final scores we're used to seeing in the CWS, get ready for some 2-1 pitcher's duels. I can't wait to see what kind of numbers Gerrit Cole, Trevor Bauer, Matt Purke, Sonny Gray, etc. can put up this year. Can we just start baseball already?

At first glance that actually looks like a small park. Just the way the picture is to me for some reason.

Foul territory is quite big, like a whole other infield.

It looks beautiful, I would love to attend a CWS soon. Would also love to attend a Kentucky Derby, we'll see which happens first. I might go to both Anaheim and Phoenix for games in April (why can't the A's just move to Vegas already?) and might head to Playa Del Carmen in Mexico in June, so I don't see either happening this year. I'm curious what the Outfield dimensions are for TD Ameritrade Park. Anyone else care to get on that? I need to get ready for work.

the real issue is the new bats that the college kids have to use. They are absolutely awful and will def decrease the power numbers this year. but the picture definately just got me pumped up for baseball season.

The bats are absolutely terrible. Having hit with one myself, and comparing it to the bats from years past, there will be a tough time hitting for power. No longer will runner be able to go from 1st to 3rd on a basehit to the outfield because the outfielders will be playing so shallow. No matter where you hit the ball, it has the same feeling. This will seperate the superb hitters from the good hitters. Home run totals will be down a ton.

The stadium is truly a first class facility. TD Ameritrade Park actually has a shorter distance from home plate to the first row of seats than Rosenblatt did. (60 feet vs. 52 feet) So I am guessing the photo is just deceiving.

The outfield dimensions are exactly the same as Rosenblatt in the new park.
