View Full Version : Panini redemption question. Break the seal?

So i just received a Kyler Murray select tie dye auto and a Daniel Jones Tie-dye auto from Panini. Both came in a toploader and are sealed with the transparent sticker. It´s pretty rediculous imo that those are not in a mag as they are worth a couple hundred $. The gold Ferrell, which is probably worth maybe 50$ is in a mag. Like seriously Panini?

So i am thinking about breaking the seal and putting it in a mag. Would there be a drop in value, because i broke the seal or has anyone experience with that?

thx

If you are concerned about the protection of the cards inside the top loaders then you need to decide whether you believe they will lose more value from potentially being damaged versus being removed from the sealed top loaders. I think we all would know the answer to that. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

If you plan on selling them, the factory sealed top loader will hold more value, than busted out in a mag.

If you are worried about protection, cut a piece of cardboard the size of that top loader, use an oversized team bag, or one for a graded card, and cobble it all together.

Top loader in the bag, cardboard behind it.

This way, the loader cant get bent, and they actually display pretty well like that.

From Panini, shipping in a top loader is better than a mag, where the cards come lose and end up getting crimped in the case. Seen it happen a bunch

I believe keeping it in the original toploader WITH the Panini seal is the best way to go.
You'll get more for it, people will see the seal and say to themselves.
"WHOA THIS IS LEGIT I DON'T MIND PAYING A LITTLE EXTRA FOR IT."

add another vote for keep it in the toploader. For no other reason other than if you are going to sell it on Ebay, you can state that it is direct from panini and you're bidding on the sealed card in that exact condition.

Unless you’re getting them graded, no reason to break the seal.

Keep it sealed...Whenever I am looking to purchase an item, I always give the sealed card priority unless it's been graded.

ok, thx for the answers. They will stay in the toploaders as the are now with the seal (even though they are 35Point in 55 or 75 Point toploaders).

Probably will keep the Kyler for PC and might sell Jones, not sure yet.

Have a good weekend all

Wow, this was eye opening. I had no idea that people valued that little Panini CS sticker so much.

First thing I do when I buy one of these for my PC is to definitely remove the Panini CS sticker. I never actually thought that people put a premium on it.

Pretty interesting.

This kind of blows my mind because usually Panini manages to get fingerprints or something on the card.

Plus the card wasn’t meant to be sealed in the first place it was meant to be in the product. Some sort of comfort provided by that little seal that I do not understand. It feels like creating some kind of false value.

When I bought my two Mack Championship Ticket's one came in a magnetic with Panini Seal the other in a toploader with Panini seal. Pissed me off because the one in the toploader had a penny sleeve with a flaw in it that I was afraid it was going to indent onto the card. In that case I removed the seal and put it into a new holder. If all is ok with the penny sleeve and toploader I would leave them sealed but look for ridges, bumps or anything on the soft sleeve that could indent the cards surface, then I would switch them out.

Never break the seal

That’s just good life advice

I would prefer the card with the Panini seal. Nowadays, with all the fake and altered cards, the Panini seal provides reassurance.

I like the seal also.

I have a couple of Contenders from this last year (Chubb & Sutton) that I would really like to put into a binder, but I cannot bring myself to take them out of the Panini sealed top loaders and magnetic holders.

I have noticed that one of my Chubb's in a top loader is also on eBay in a magnetic. Kinda wonder why Panini might send out one in a top loader, and another of the exact same card, same parallel, in a magnetic holder.

Anyway, I also always kept anything from Topps in the sealed holders they sent redemptions in, and NPN's, when I did those. Panini was sending them with seals by the time I stopped a few years ago. Got a nice little row of mostly boring common cards in sealed Panini top loaders in a box somewhere.

I must be weird, I prefer my redemptions to come in a toploader. When they put them into those one-touch things I hate it because it doesn't match the rest of the set I'm collecting. I guess I could put the rest of them in one-touches but I hate how much room they take up. Oh, and the fact that half of them have the magnets backwards.

Damn, what I would give to be the monkey living in San Francisco. Some monkey's have all the luck.

It's probably for the best though, I'd likely end up needing Tommy John surgery throwing all that feces.
