Sort of. It was actually in reaction to Upper Deck making a play on Zion. Upper Deck made it known they were going hard at Zion and given they already did it once with Simmons Panini decided it was time to push back. Ultimately Zion chose Panini but this deal was done prior to that.

This release will be interesting. I wonder what it will contain, since Score was a O-Pee-Chee-like release and was fairly large. This "New" Panini Score? Who knows.

Could be another sticker dump from their leftover hockey inventory? Couldn't see how they could have a lot of current players (except Kakko) since they don't have a licence.

Got the email earlier, $15 a pack. I'm in for a few at that price. Releases Wednesday. Wouldn't be shocked if they go quickly at that price. I'm one of those weirdos who likes Panini baseball, so I don't mind the no logos. These look pretty nice.

Taking a deeper dive into the numbers we know..."Parallels include: Black (unnumbered), Red Line #’d to 99, Blue Line #’d to 49, Goal Line #’d to 25, Artist Proof #’d to 5, and Cracked Ice Master Proof #’d to 1" we can jump to plausible print runs.

Packs contain only 2 cards...one of each player (excluding of course the dual autograph card).

Each player has a total of 179 #/d parallels in this set, plus the unnumbered black parallel. Thinking of total production run numbers somewhere around 1000 packs seems plausible.

At 1000 packs, and 100 of each autograph (if they insert the same number per player)...
- 200 packs would have an auto (5 pack bundles seems to imply an autograph dropping 1:5)
- the Black Parallel would have a print run of roughly 220.

Based on the guess above, of the 2000 total cards inserted in the product:
1000 base cards (500 of each player)
200 autograph cards (100 of each player...duals included)
440 black parallel (220 of each player)
198 Red Line #/99
98 Blue Line #/49
50 Goal Line #/25
10 Artist's Proof #/5
2 Master Proof #/1

So odds would look like:
- Base Cards 1:1
- Black Parallels 1:2.7
- Red Line #/99 1:5
- Autograph Cards 1:5
- Blue Line #/49 1:10
- Goal Line #/25 1:20
- Artist's Proof 1:100
- Master Proof 1:500

Again...this is all speculation, but the print run seems plausible on a few accounts...enough packs to trigger some interest, and just enough for a probable sellout before they start shipping in 2 weeks.

I assume that they expect most of these packs to sell in 5 pack blocks, so maybe we're looking at $12,500 in revenue for what is mostly a marketing release. Overall cost (autographs included) should be under $5000.

I really don't see a much larger print run, because it's really a niche product that should create excitement and interest...not collect dust on the website. I don't really see a print run smaller than 750 packs...but anything is possible.

Honestly, I dont think its horrible. If Kakko can have a strong season, I dont see how these arent a decent buy. Now, I dont think your gonna get $40 value, but I see it very easily being a solid $20 break in comparison to other boxes.

I would be too, but in some ways, I'm expecting this to be a relative loss leader for Panini to trigger interest and accentuate the fact that they have Kakko autographs and UD doesn't.

I just really don't see this as a 2000-3000 pack release because there just not enough content, and 100 of each autograph seems so feasible on all accounts.

Will I take a gamble on a 5 pack bundle? Yes. At $50, there are far worse gambles than this.

The only way I have ever got some of these high demand Panini releases is by checking out as guest. It's dumb I'm not earning points, but oh well. For payment just use your credit card and don't use PayPal as I have had issues with that.
