Just posted on NFL.com yesterday, since we are now a quarter of the way through the season.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001061026/article/nfl-power-rankings-week-5-saints-reenter-top-3-rams-slide

Do you agree with where your team ranks? My Bears at #5 seems legit. Hopefully they get their offense moving soon.

Cowboys lose ugly to Teddy B, but are ranked #4 still. Those 1st 3 games gave them a lot of points in the rankings.

Hard to argue Pats and Chiefs in the top two slots. But the Panthers over Minshew Magic?

Falcons are too high :(

The Eagles are a little too high for me. Didn't look so great against Washington or Atlanta. I don't think they would beat the 49ers or Rams either. Wenz is playing great but still too high for them.

The bills seem extremely overrated at 11. Also, how are the Bucs at 21???? They beat the Rams and the Panthers! They also almost beat the Giants who are looking good with Daniel Jones and their only other loss is to the undefeated 49ers!

It such a mess after 2 lol. You could argue any team 3-11 at 3 lol.

I think the Bears and the Eagles are ranked too high.

Also feel that the Vikings and Colts are ranked too low.

On a side note I don't see how the Dolphins managed to be ranked 32nd. I really can't see how they are that good.

Lions at 4 - enjoy it while it lasts, which won't be long. The annual parade of road losses to division opponents will do them in.

Agree! I also think the Rams are too high. Packers and Seahawks should be ahead of them IMO. According to these rankings, the Rams 1 loss is much worse than the Packers and Seahawks 1 loss.

And the Bears are at 5 and their 1 loss is to the Packers who are 9. Things like that always confuse me in these rankings. But like you said, you could really argue interchanging any of the 1 loss teams basically (and 49ers).

I'd have the Bears around 24. Sure, they will be slightly better with Daniel while Mitch is hurt, but this is a QB driven league, and Mitch might be the worst starter in the NFL. Nagy knows it too.

I know the Niners haven’t had the greatest of schedules so far, but they are taking care of business. I’m not sure how a 2 loss team is above them.

Any power ranking before the halfway point of the season is silly.
We are 4 games in, teams are still going to surprise and disappoint. How a team looks right now is as much schedule as anything.

Agreed. Not a bad team at all. I think that win in Lambeau got them some extra credit during this round.

Lions are not at 4. They are at 13, which seems pretty accurate to me.

23 teams ahead of the Bears in the power rankings? Not disagreeing with you about Mitch, he has a ways to go, but to put them at 24 instead of 5 seems a bit harsh.

That Defense is the real deal.

Bears are #2 in points allowed per game/Total points allowed, behind the Pats that got to play both the Dolphins and the Jets already.

Bears are also Top 5 in yards per play, yards per game, turnovers (#2) etc

They were at 4 in the one published by Ganett newspapers today. :coffee:

13 is still too high. 25, maybe.

The Bears defense is good, no doubt. But who have they played? The Packers, who are average offensively. Then the Bears played some of the worst offenses in the NFL in Denver, Washington and the terrible Vikings. So it's not like the Bears are stopping high powered offenses. Or even average offenses.

They’re in the right area but chargers at 2-2 shouldn’t be ahead of the lions who beat them.

Saint 1 when Brees comes back. Again, just speaking in terms of regular season.

No way. The Brees-led Saints hardly beat and shouldn't have beat the Texans. They're paper tigers.

Every top team has had a 'barely beat' scenario vs. a borderline team this year. If Brees can return to his regular form, they'll be in tight contention for the NFC title. This is the same team that's basically been un-lucked out of a Super Bowl appearance the past 2 seasons, and I'm the furthest from a Saints fan. Thomas and Kamara are still Thomas and Kamara, and the defense will do just enough to keep them in games.

Way too early to power rank anyone accurately. Having said that, if the Niners beat the Browns down Staley and Witherspoon, I’ll start to allow myself to believe.

As dominant as the defense is, I think the Pat's offense is really banged up right now. Probably worse then they were last year. Can't see how they can keep this up. It pains me as a Pats fan, but I wouldn't rank them #1.

Yes yes yes! I’m sacrificing a small cute animal to my Brees shrine tonight!

Week 8. I still have CHI at 24. Maybe 26.

Chicago and Cleveland. 2 of the most underachieving teams of the last decade. Embarrassing.

The media and stupid fans built them up. Did anyone really expect the bears to be good? Other than Mack what do they even have?
Browns gonna brown.

Akiem Hicks, outside linebacker Khalil Mack, cornerback Kyle Fuller, safety Eddie Jackson and returner Tarik Cohen. All Pro Bowlers last year. So was Mitch, but I ain't going there.

Hicks is hurt, Mack has been average and INT seem hard to get this year.

Allen Robinson is a stud if they feed him. Outside of QB, there is talent. Just bad luck and bad coaching.

ARob and Cohen are legit weapons. At this point, even though he was all too happy to leave JAX, I'm starting to feel bad for Robinson. This is his 6th year in the NFL, 5th if you don't count his one catch then torn ACL year, and he has never once caught a pass from an average or better QB. He's worked with trash since day 1. Poor guy.

Truth!

Chicago has ALWAYS been where good receivers go to die.

Muhsin Muhammad, Martellus Bennett, Kendall Wright, Eddie Royal, Marcus Wheaton ETC

The only free agent they brought in, that comes to mind, that lived up to the hype was Brandon Marshall.

When your team has been around for 100 years, and your top reciving leaders (Johnny Morris & Harlon Hill) have been retired for 50 years, what does that tell you?

Markus Wheaton was never good. He flamed out in Pittsburgh and took his services to Chi-town.

He was good, that's why the Bears paid him. In the 2 seasons he started for Pittsburgh he averaged 750 yards and 15 yards per catch.

He didn't flame out, he got hurt and only started 2 games after that.

Point being, he had talent but never got off the ground in Chicago.

3 catches in 11 starts and done

I did not realize that about the Bears franchise-leading recievers. Wow.

Even with the way the game is played now, they can't get it right at WR. And when they do get it right, by signing an ultra talented 25 year old WR, they have the worst starting QB in the NFL trying to get him the ball. That's rough.
