Not sure what to expect out of the Pens this year. Quality team with defensive issues. And the injury bug is biting a lot early this year. Oh, and Jack Johnson somehow still has a job.

Nailed it!
But Joel should get this group firing on all 8 sooner rather than later. His forward group is solid, but his D after Ekblad looks a bit on the tired side maybe except for Matheson?
Bob needs to step up his game.

I'm liking this deal in the early going.....
Have to say I wasn't a fan of giving up a 2020 (or 2021) first round pick and a 2019 third rounder for this guy (thought that a 2nd and 3rd should have been enough given Tampa's cap issues at the time).
If the 'Nucks can improve on last season and (gulp!) even snag a wild card spot then it's a pretty good deal. We can defer the pick to 2021 if we end up in this year's lottery.
Bold move, Jim, but so far so good.

I thought that Vancouver was the ultimate goalie graveyard- yikes!
But you seasoned B's fans really don't have much confidence in Tuukka, do you?. 2 Finals losses will do that I suppose......maybe time for Jaro?
It REALLY pains me to say this (for obvious reasons) but I see no reason why the Bruins don't have a successful season and extended playoff run yet again.
And sometime in the near future I hope to attend a Bruin's home game.

I didn't think it was a good deal at the time for the same reasons you mentioned but early on, it's easily been worth it. He's been a play driver and exactly what the team needed in the top six.

Would anyone here be interested in a phone app that just shows the current season's stats of Young Guns from a specific set release (IE 2018-19 Series 2) in a table view?
Thinking the app would allow the user to mark cards that you have and also be able to just show the cards you currently have or don't have?
This is something I am thinking about creating for myself and didn't know if it would be of interest to others out there in the community.

Lets revisit the bolded now and then at the end of the year. Seems like you have memory loss of a couple seasons in the last decade they were on the outside (9th-12th spot) looking in and still made the playoffs (roster is a mess but still have goaltending and the 2nd best player in the NHL). Proven team... Unlike Detroit and Buffalo that you mentioned. I do remember Buffalo being in 1st at one point last year, oops.
Detroit still has below average goaltending and mediocre defense. Buffalo lacks a goalie with consistency, they are borderline for me.

4-2-1 start, probably one of their best starts in recent memory. Their goaltending is healthy for the first time in forever, and while they don't have a superstar wunderkind on their roster, and not amazing 1st line, they have a lot of depth 1 thru 4

Pacific Division is really upside down so far compared to last year.
Sharks are drowning- Pavelski is a bigger loss than anticipated. I expect more from these guys.
LA is where everyone expected. Boo hoo Drew!
Calgary should turn it around as the season moves forward and vie for top spot, but need to go on a bit of a roll and smarten up.
Oilers? I expect them to fall out sooner rather than later.
Vegas is a really solid team and likely will battle for top seed again.
Anaheim has surprised but won't be able to sustain IMO.
Arizona was expected to improve and haven't disappointed. Desert Dogs might actually become relevant. OEL is a stud on D.
And the Canucks? Enjoy the ride Vancouver fans. Off season moves are paying off, the young guys are performing and progressing quite well and the goaltending is solid. Might just surprise and nab a wildcard slot, but will be in tough for sure in the Western Conference. These guys haven't had a run through the Central yet and need to take some points there if they have a hope in hell.

I can’t wait till another team snookers LAK out of the lottery it deserves. Meanwhile, Kopitar is still the best player on the team. Why Turcotte is not playing is beyond me. It appears you are located on the west coast and probably don’t see regularly many of the teams out east.
There is no player more clutch than David Pasternak, not only leads the league with 24 goals, but also GWG with 5.
He’s a tremendous play maker, check out his assist yesterday on Krejci OT winner.
Guy is money and headed towards a 50 goal season, and one of the primary reasons why the Bruins sit at the top of the NHL standings!

Pastrnak is just incredible and I couldn't agree more with your Bruins assessment- as much as it pains me as a 'Nuck fan.
BTW, being on the west coast we see pretty much all of the eastern teams quite regularly since they typically play so much earlier with the 3 hour time difference and we then get full hi-light packs between 8-10 PM nightly. IMO, it's the eastern crowd that misses out on the western teams and players.

It just means that I follow more than one team.
Boston has a great team with great chemistry too, although they did have to work off the beer and turkey in the early part of Friday's game.

The "C" is for clutch. Clutch is different than talent and skill (which yes can still provide clutch moments). Couture's my pick.

Pasternak has scored more clutch goals than Couture this season, your referencing back to back OT goals outside of that I’m sure he’s carried the team some games, not to the level Pasternak has, 24 goals have lead to a helluva lot of clutch goals, the B’s have won numerous games this season by 1 goal.
I watch all games not just Bruins and I think the stats speak for themselves, I consider clutch assists also and Pasternak has fed many game winnning goals this season (after the beers & turkey Fri. is a great example)
Both are on the score sheet every night, so your doing something right.
I’m sure both teams want the puck on their respective sticks with the game on the line.

How Jeff Blashill is still employed in Detroit is a shocker. With the good young talent they have, they should not be in the Alexis Lafreniere sweepstakes right now. He must be the perfect snowflake because if he even looked cross eyed at an NHL player these days he’d have been fired by now.

Babcock not coming off too well in interviews with ex-players. Will he ever have a job again? Or is it over for him?
At first I thought he'd get hired whenever he wanted to come back. From my understanding he did have teams contact him when he was initially fired by the Maple Leafs.
But In today's day and age with all of these stories coming to light in an instant, I don't think so.
Unless he goes away for awhile and comes back saying all the right things to a team during an interview saying "he's changed", etc.
Who really knows at this point. This thing has evolved into more than just a hockey story, but a cultural 'movement' if you will regarding treatment of players.

Most man games lost in the league and significant players at that. Malkin, Crosby, Dumo, Schultz, Letang, Hornquist, Rust and Guentzel have all been out for significant periods and yet they are still rolling strong.
