As some may know, I have been in search of the 2012 Topps Finest Tom Brady Black Printing Plate for years! I honestly thought I would never get it. I figured it was still in a pack, was maybe never inserted into a pack, or stored away in someone’s pc forever. Well, this past Sunday I did one of my many eBay searches for the day and there it was....buy it now for $65. I can’t even explain to you the feeling that I felt at that moment. Definitely my biggest accomplishment and greatest moment in collecting ever for me. My wife didn’t know what was going on when she heard how ecstatic I was in the other room Lol.
I messaged the seller after it was shipped and asked him how long he had the card and how he got it? He told me he was helping a lady sell her husband’s collection. He said her husband owned a card shop and that he passed away 5 years ago. She had finally decided to sell his old inventory. Given the story, I am very fortunate that this card ever surfaced again. Knowing the story, will make me cherish this card in my collection even more. The seller said he knows that his wife would be happy that I appreciate the card as much as I do and that he planned to tell her my story bc I had explained to him how I had been in search of this printing plate for years.
My plan now is to send it to PSA to get it slabbed like the rest of the cards. I have a base PSA 10 on the way, so you won’t see that pictured. Also, I do have a base refractor non graded, but I am just going to wait for a cheap PSA 10 to pop up and buy it rather than pay to have mine graded and risk it not come back a 10. I am also looking to upgrade the prism refractor from a 9 to a 10. I will do an update picture once I have everything slabbed and it all looks more official, I just couldn’t wait to make this post!
