EDIT: I think with the post below I'll lean towards real now, but its tough to know in today's culture of swapping and trimming. Flawless would be the most likely set to have insane patches in.

Reggie has this amazing patch in Flawless this year that I'm sure the guy didn't quick change it out. The Rose is 5 years old though.

I don't understand why Panini doesn't have a database for patch checks.

I am not sure I would say fake...
It really isn't the same but this was pulled on video via a yt gb so I was able to verify its authenticity and its #/25..
I am not sure why Panini doesn't use these patches on the lower #d cards or 1/1s but hey why do they do anything the way they do..

What incentive does panini have to use a database? They want to sell boxes not suppress price on secondary market. Only way to get away with patch switching is to buy the box directly and pull the cards in private. Making a database would decrease boxes sold... plus now if you want to know a card is legit you can’t buy on eBay but have to buy direct with boxes.... until it becomes profitable for panini to make a database, they likely won’t.

It could be real, but I wouldn’t be caught dead buying that card. If I ever feel in my bones that it COULD be fake, I don’t want it. But that’s just one guy’s perspective! I actually love that set and have like 10 cards from it, tho.

If you’ve ever been to their website you’d know they are incapable of any such technology

100% Correct. Stated another way - if a restaurant can charge for Steak & Lobster but serve shrimp cocktail instead - with no repercussions other than a few folks saying that's not cool - but consumers continue to come in day after day and spend the higher $'s, why would they stop? Consumers of other products expect a higher standard of quality and authenticity, but most people buying cards aren't really consumers but addicts - kind of like how drug addicts don't exactly care that what they are buying isn't pure but has been mixed with something else... I haven't purchased wax since 2006 since the card companies aren't providing the product I would pay for - but I'm in the very small minority so there has been no financial impact felt and no incentive to change... it won't even change until the addicts are gone and collectors return... so never...
