This could put a serious damper on the cards run at the division if it does turn out to be serious...

Radio just said (so take that for what it's worth) that he's out 15-18 months.

Ouch. If true, I can see a potential Pujols trade in the future should they fall out of it early ...

Unbelievable, now i have to drop him from my player rankings before my draft :(

Could be worse. At least you didnt have him prior to his injury

Crappy surgery to have but then again what is a good surgery ?

The Mets should trade Reyes and half of NYC for Pujols now lol

I feel bad for him. Seems like a classy guy and so underrated as a pitcher. Here's hoping it's a quick recovery.

Albert Pujols on Wainwright's injury: "(it's) not good. Not good at all. I'm not impressed."

That SUCKS!!!!!! In my OP this guy has been our Ace. Hate to lose him for the year plus some. Wow can anything else go wrong. Can't get it done with PJ now this. And Edmonds retires to boot.

Maybe Yadier Molina will get swallowed by a giant pelican, too. :crossesfingers:

Certainly seems like it is going to go down to a 2 team race between the Brewers & Reds.

Many people in keeper leagues just took a huge blow. I sure am glad the owner in one of my leagues did not trade him to me last year. :)!

As a cardinals fan this is so depressing. And he is my best pitcher in my keeper league.

Maybe Yadier Molina will get swallowed by a giant pelican, too. :crossesfingers:

But yet this still made me laugh. :)

Yeah, I just read this myself. I always hate to see guys get injured like that. I'm curious to see how the Cardinals handle the contract now. TJ surgery is so routine and guys come back no problem, it just takes a little while (command is usually the last thing to return). It wouldn't surprise me to see them not pick up the option and then offer him a lesser amount maybe? Or perhaps they will just roll with the option...either way it will be interesting to see what happens.

I don't think the Player's Association will allow them to void his contract. Best case, they'll file an insurance claim on the contract to recoup some of the money.

Sorry, void was the wrong word. It's the option that vests provided he doesn't end the year on the disabled list. I doubt the Cardinals will pick up the option now but I don't know.

It could be the magic bean they need to free up some coin to keep Pujols –#@or the final straw that causes Pujols to leave since they're going to be fielding an inferior team moving forward.

Well he is there ace and if I read that correctly they are only freeing up 21million which may not be enough to cover what Pujols wants.

NY met fan here and I must say I am truly sad to see this happen to Mr Wainwright. I really think hes a great underated pitcher. I do wish him well and a speedy recovery and if the cards do void his options/contract, I hope the mets swing in and grab him. He'll be back...just like strasburg will be too and most likely thowing better then ever
