Refund Order Question

If I am refunding a buyer due to damage in transit (hoping USPS actually covers since I paid for insurance) do I refund before I get the item returned or wait until I receive the item back before issuing the refund. I want to follow whatever procedure is standard. Thanks.

Depends really on the situation if the return shipping and the damage that has been made kills it best to just refund and move on. I ship many heavier items that cost 30 plus to ship though so I have to consider this with a lot of items.
