I am getting alot of people trying to make offers for items equal to ebay minus fees. Yet ebay is now requiring sales tax between 6-9% on each purchase plus the same tax on any shipping fees. With this said do you think it is right to sell an item for minus fees even though they are also avoiding taxes buy buying here. Seems a bit unfair to me but what do I know.
For example, lets say an item sold for $100 free shipping on ebay. After tax, they are paying between $106-$109 for the item.
I have buyers looking to pay $88 for that same item here (12% for ebay and Paypal fees). SO they are looking to not only avoid ebay fees and taxes but also making me cover paypal fees. essentially trying to get the item for 17-19% below ebay price. Seems a bit unfair to a seller. Thoughts? If a seller is saving you from dreaded ebay taxes why should they have to also give you an extra 12% off and cover the ebay and paypal fees? I don't make a big deal out of this on $10-25 items but when I am trying to sell a couple big cards for 1k thats $200 cheaper compared to ebay that they are trying to get it for.
I really would love to hear some responses

Your cards, your prices. Do what you think is right.

Free market at work. I wouldn't get caught up in all the semantics, sell with what you think is fair.

Many people don't pay taxes when buying on eBay.

Bingo
Buyers, especially on here where everyone is trying to make a buck, is going to go for cheapest price as possible.
Why do you care if theyre trying to avpid taxes by buuing on here, you dont vet the tax money so it shouldnt matter what final ebay proce+taxes are to you. Unless youre trying to use that as final value and charge customers more?

I do not believe that is the OPs argument.
When buyers on here ask for a deal 10% under eBay, since the seller avoids those fees. Why cant the seller combat that with zero under ebay, since the buyer avoids those taxes (usually)
I like the argument, and it's an angle I didn't think of until now

I almost never respond on here but love reading these topics. I think it is a case by case situation. I can speak from my point of view as someone who never sells on ebay and anytime I buy something it is for my son and I would like a discount if its ever possible. If I understand ebay, you only get $88 off of the sale whether there was tax or not, so as long as you still get your $88 I could argue that you can make the buyer feel great about the value of his deal with you and at the same time get the same amount of money you stood to get through ebay.
I say all that to say it is your card and you should do what you think is best for you.

Hockey doesn't sell for me. haha not really interested in it. Thanks for everyones opinions. I got in a really heated debate at my local monthly card dealer dinner and I just wanted to get some more peoples opinion's. I think that free market is free market but I also like when everyone feels like they have won since that is the best way to do business in my opinion and is also how relationships are built. I care more about doing business with someone in 5 years from now than I do the $10 we might be haggling over. BUT there are still margins which I have to manage and work with so its a fine line. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect and thank all of you who took the time to post your views. Happy Holidays to all and if anyone is looking to do a bulk deal I am in need of some cash. I would do 15-20% below ebay depending on what is purchased. Might be a good opportunity for someone with retail or who frequents shows (which I do neither of). PM me and we can work out a deal and thanks again for everyones time!

I would not let it bug you. Sell the cards for what you think is fair as others have said.
I also like to point out to people that any price cheaper on here is saving them money they are not spending on eBay. It works both ways IMO
