Edit-

Why have rules if people won't follow them

And to boot the "new" bidder has bid on nothing but you auctions.

Either a shiller or you p!ssed someone off.

What rules are you referring to? I don't think I broke any, I'm still fairly new to this msg board, but if I did, please let me know so that I can edit what I did wrong and not make the same mistake again in any future post.

And in regards to the auction, I sure hope I haven't pissed anybody off and this is how they get back. Other than my wife who is constantly pissed at me, I try to stay on people's good sides. I had to google "shiller" though bc I didn't know what that meant. I don't know if you were saying I was doing that or referring that to another person, but I really hope it wasn't a reference to me. I like to think of myself as an honest and fair person.

I don't get it. I just now even found out what that was. How am I shill bidding? Right now I have 7 auctions on eBay... 2 of them have the same high bidder (The Jackie Bradley and the Lars) Is them having the same bidder what you are referring to? Please help me understand.

Edit: I'm looking for honest feedback here guys. Help me understand this a little better. From what I read when I googled "shilling" its when a seller tries to increase the value of a product normally a term used in the real estate market. So is my post here advertising my card what you are referring to or do you believe I am inflating the auction? Please help.

Shill bidding refers a seller inflating an auctions value by bidding up the price. Typically, this is done by using a newly created account or by having someone else that you know bid on your auctions. However, due to the fact that ebay "hides" id names the only way you can tell if someone is shill bidding is by looking at the persons bid history on an item. Here it tells the # of bids this person has with a certain seller a % and so forth. The person who is in the lead on your item has 0 feedback and 12 bids all of them with your items or 100% of their bids on your items. Typically this is a sign of shilling. Whether you are or not, I don't know.

As for the second rule, you cannot link to ebay auctions in this part of the forum. There is a special section for "spamming" your ebay auctions. You are find trying to tell the card itself here but you cannot link to the bay auction, simply state the card is "also on ebay".

Hope this helps.

Edit: This is what concerns people...

7290- Thank you for your response. At least somebody is trying to help me out. I removed the link to the auction. I see now where that was against the rules. Thanks for correcting and I won't post links to any auctions in the future. As far as the shilling thing goes, I see the same user name on 4 of my 7 auctions right now, and this is a name that is familiar from another board where i normally do my trades/buys/sells. Whats odd about those auctions is that the high bidder's name is cabosox and there is also a carolinabosox. I know eBay blocks the names, but i'll post them here in case any of you might know this person or have done business with this person before. Which would explain the bids on both Bradley and Lars as Bradley plays for the South Carolina Gamecocks and Lars plays for the Boston Red Sox.

Good job to 7290morint for explaining it.

A zero FB bidder has bid on nothing but your auctions.

There are 4 logical reason why this is happening and people will look at it in this order.

1. You or one of your other trade site buddies is driving up the bids to make you more $$.

2. Someone from this other site is bidding on it for his/her buying.

3. Someone is p!ssed with you and screwing with your auctions.

4. Just a coinsidence.

PERSONALLY if I was interested in any of your items and I saw this I would not bid on any of your actions, now or in the future.

Neither of the names you posted in your response is the high bidder in this case.

Not saying you are doing anything wrong but you would get no business from me.

jlzinck- I totally understand your position. you said that neither of the names is a high bidder, the carolina bosox is actually the high bidder in 3 of them. I am sending a message right now as we speak to the member on freedom cardboard who has the same name. In the meantime, should I cancel those bids from the guy who has 0 fb if its not the same person that I am messaging? I don't want to get screwed here.

There is no carolina bosox on ebay.

I have no clue what you should do

There is, I'll take a picture of the screen and post it... I also have bidding from a kevmvucko96 ( 0 ) as well with ZERO bid history. Don't know how to do that search thing that 7290 did, but I don't see any other bids from him on my auctions, just the Hexagraph. Anyway, here is the picture of the ebay user name I am concerned about. And sorry jlzinck, there is an 81 behind his name thats probably why it wasnt showing up. Thats my fault.

And one of those is a member at FCB. I sent a message but haven't received a response yet. I also sent a message on eBay and have no response there either. I have never had a direct dealing with either one. I have spoken to carolinabosox before on FCB because we are both South Carolina fans. He is from South Carolina, and I am from Florida but went to school at South Carolina. But I don't think this is the same person who is bidding on my items. I did post all of the cards that I am selling now on FCB and maybe he wants to take his chance bidding on them for a better deal instead of paying my asking price on the boards. Hopefully I hear from them soon because as of now I am going to start deleting bids for the guy with no FB.

Chansen10- I removed the bid from carolinabosox18 on the Lars 9.5 if you're still interested. We could work something out here as well if you would like.

I always delete bids of people with 0 feedback especially those that show up towards the end of an auction. It is not worth it because 90% of the time in my personal experience that account is not active the following day upon auction completion and no one takes second chance offers anymore because they all assume that the auction was shilled. Also when you relist it looks sketchy as well, in my opinion just delete the 0 feedback and you drop all assumptions regarding your auctions.

I had already started. I've got him removed from 2 of my auctions so far. If he answers back and ask why then I will explain and tell him to just bid again, at least at that point I know he was concerned enough that he was actually bidding and it wasn't some bot or @$$ screwing around. I just don't want to look sketchy like you said. I have 100% positive feedback on eBay and the other board I trade on and have never really had an issue like this before. I try to give people the benefit of doubt, but its a new world.

Card was sold. High bidder backed out. elway7_2000. Claims he was bidding for another collector and collector wouldn't pay him. He offered to pay for my eBay fees if I would cancel the transaction instead of filing no pay. Since he sent the Paypal I accepted. Anyway... card is available once again. I listed it back on eBay (As a BIN/BO this time so payment would be required at purchase) but will take $700/obo from here.

He's backed out of card purchases before. I wonder if he used the same load of crap on them as well

I am sure he has done that to others, that's why I posted his name so that others are warned. I also blocked CarolinaBoSox81 along with Elway7_2000. I recommend you do the same. At least the guy gave me Paypal for my eBay fees.
