The nominees were suggested by Blowout members on a previous thread.

**The criteria for this award is whatever YOU think makes a set the best Auto/Patch set of the decade. Vote with whatever you think is the most important criteria, whether it be how iconic the card is, how valuable, or just which card you like best.*****

The Nominees:

Oh man...if auto/patch means either/or, I goofed up by not nominating the 2015-16 Preferred Finals booklets. They have a beautiful acetate finish, large patches, historic subject matter (Warriors first modern title), and a checklist that includes Steph and LeBron.

I feel you, I feel the same way about the statline Memorabilia patches from that year! Love me game dated patches and images.

How is the sole non-auto nomination going to have any chance here...

1) Impeccable Numbers-- Impeccable is underrated to me as a whole but these cards are amazing looking and super valuable for the great players.
2) Flawless Patches-- Game Worn Patches from players and RC's of all eras these have been super nice for quite a while.
3) Noir Spotlight Autos-- A bit overrated to me personally, too many of them made and the shine isn't quite right but I get why so many people like them.
4) Immaculate Premium Patch Autos-- Nice cards that most people gloss over unless they're star players.
5) Noir Sneaker Spotlight-- Too soon to say really but its off to a nice start, needs some work to really make it a staple though.
6) Revolution Autos-- Probably surprised I'd put this at the bottom being a Rev Junkie. The autos aren't the biggest chase in Revolution, they're awesome being on-card (at least hobby) but not enough variety in the numbering or colors on them.

If Finals Patches were in this I'd place them just behind Impeccable Numbers.

Gonna be lots of opinions and controversy here for sure. To me, not including an eminence auto patch set is heresy. A few of those sets are more difficult to find and pricey than anything else in the panini era. Trust me on this one.

Everybody had their chance to nominate something:
https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1342386

Some did.

It's not easy to get every single nominee right for a decade's worth of 10 difference categories, so if i missed something, I apologized but it's the best I can do.

Eminence was a disaster and the only reason they're worth more than an Opulence/Noir/Impeccable auto is because the buy price per box is so insane. It would be like me suggesting Vanguard beyond the arc autos. The sales don't super jump out at me besides the USA patch autos and the 1/1s.

I’ve owned a lot of big cards from a lot of big sets my friend. There’s a reason that I have only sold a couple of eminence cards. Some of the the nicest auto patch sets ever and far better than anything panini has done outside of a couple of the acetate auto patches. I may be one of few people here who believe this.... but trust me, there are many collectors who feel the same.

So some random thread that doesn't mention nominations for anything in the title is up for just a couple of days and so that's it?

For real? The only one that doesn't have an auto....

Ohhh... So Blowout, where this vote is from, should collectively pick a set that very few people on here actually like?

So much stupid. Yay for this forum.

I voted Spotlight Signatures. I like Immac Premium Patch autos but they really took a big jump this year being on acetate.

Silhouettes Prime, Immac Jersey Numbers, and Flawless Star Swatch Signatures got screwed over.

This whole project of selecting 10 different categories and sifting through 10 years of cards to take my best guess at nominees was a bit of a time consuming undertaking that I was only able to do because I'm off for the week+ for the holidays.

I don't get some prize for doing this...I just wanted to create some good card related discussion. If you would like to contribute, it's greatly appreciated. If you would rather just criticize and add nothing of substance, you are welcome to avoid these threads all together.

Again, you did great. Everyone has different opinions. Some of us missed the earlier threads. It’s a fun idea.

I voted Flawless. It's simple. It's game used. Big patches. No autos (i'm not a huge fan of auto/patch combos - prefer them separate)

I may be one of few people here who believe this.... but trust me, there are many collectors who feel the same.

They do have a following. But to a lot of others they're not that nice of a set either (beyond the price point). For me those fat marker autos absolutely trash the majority of cards. And for me they over used foil. It starts to look tacky when it covers a third of the card. In my opinion they've settled into where they should be. A small high end niche. Nothing wrong with that either. But it's absolutely not something that should be in the "of the decade" talk.

I guess it depends on how you define best. I think it's the best looking, rarest, and best set Panini has made... and it certainly has more value than other auto patch sets that I know of. But it probably makes up 15% of the value of my collection, so no, I'm not neutral here.

But I get it... different strokes. The only other thing I'll say on this is that I was one of the biggest proponents of the original Flawless on these boards. I took a lot of flack for it. It's still one of the great sets Panini has made... but it doesn't hold a candle to Eminence. After I got a few nicer Eminence cards, all of the Flawless, NT and Immac stuff started to blend together in my mind and I moved most of what I had from those sets. But I get that not everyone feels that way.

But nobody else here is going to think the same... I get that. I mean, heck... lets be honest, most people here vote for stuff that they own and love. I get that. And what percentage of people here own Eminence? Maybe 10%?

This decade has been one where cards that are available in larger supply have gained most in popularity. It's strange to me. I will never really understand it.... but to me, even though some sets might not be available to all, that doesn't mean they weren't the "best" set.

That's where the disagreement comes in. I'd argue a lot of people don't think it's the best looking. And we all know rarity only carries a card so far. And given those two things, tied with a price point that makes no real sense given what the product was offering i think it's probably in more peoples "worst of the decade" than "best of"

But I get it... different strokes.

And this is where i agree and what i love about the hobby. We don't have to agree on this at all. It's completely subjective - much in the same way as art or literature or movies - and the hobby is better and healthier with more and sometime opposed points of view. Besides I love Hoops and Status what do i know. :D :p

I actually agree with both your paragraphs above. Every word.

And I'm 100% on the idea of opposing views being good for the hobby. I hate the follow the leader mentality, and I gravitate to people who say things outside the box. The status quo doesn't appeal very often.

When I was at national, I had a couple of different people ask me about Eminence and why I seemed like the only guy who loved the product. That's something that I'm very happy about.

If I'm honest with myself, I'm probably a little bit of a natural contrarian.... I like playing devils advocate and trying to avoid group think. But even more than that, I love owning stuff that I think is the best that not everyone has. It seems that most people have gone a different way in the past couple of years. Everyone seems to collect some of the same things... I don't get it. If there's not a chase in finding something.... I don't understand. But again, I know that makes me different.

What's really annoying though is when everyone collects the same thing AND it's what I like. Fortunately though, that's not where I land very often.
