I heard the Dallas Lukas beat him a few weeks back and that instantly catapulted Luka past Lebron on the all time list.

Lebron now falls somewhere between Derek Rose and World B Free while Luka trails only Michael Porter Jr.

I think people are still holding onto hope he would still become the next Lebron. There is a chance, but I took my losses this year and moved on.

Ben Simmons. He is a fringe all star and doesn’t look like he will develop that jumper. So much potential still, hope I am wrong about him. However, every season that goes by I begin to see that the team and him have peaked.

To elaborate I would define the peak for the 76ers not as an ECSF team, but an ECF team. They have an elite defense that will carry them 2 rounds. However, I don’t think they can get past the Bucks in an ECF matchup.

The player in question is Simmons (trying to stay relevant to the thread), if he doesn’t develop a jumper, I think he has peaked. He is still an elite defender and all-star playmaker, but he won’t transcend the sport (and hobby) that many hoped so far.

Embiid is out again and Simmons put up 19 points and 3 assists in his absence last night. More troubling is that he still isn't taking jump shots and he doesn't handle the ball in crunch time. He's just not a leader. He's a role player

Secondly, have you been keeping up with Rose? Apparently not, because if you had, this comment wouldn't have come out of your mouth....he's been the best player on the team and while coming off the bench playing lesser minutes.

I was looking at completed sales on a couple players after looking for comps for a card that I had. In doing so, I was surprised to see the prices of some players. I was buying Dzanan Musa at one point and saw that some of his Optic autos were still selling for fairly high prices. I have a few of his cards, but not overly invested in him at all.

So who are you surprised that people are still buying in hopes that they pan out?

Musa is still one of the younger guys in the NBA. He's got some under utilized talent. See where he is in a year or two then see where the prices end up. People are still buying him in hopes he lives up to his potential. Plus he is on the coattails of Luka so getting some love from that market

It is? BO has Prizm at $450. Contenders at pre-sale was around $295 and now it's at $340. Good luck to anyone ripping at those prices! Absolute and Certified seem to be the only ones that have come down a little bit in price. Even Donruss is still up near $180. I don't understand how 19/20 Donruss is more expensive than 18/19 Donruss right now.

Drummond is the Pistons best player. Rose was trash from 2013-18, but the last 2 years he has been good again. It is just too late for him to get noticed after people hyping him when he was bad for so long.

It's never too late! A 30 year old Rose is better than most PG in this league. His minutes are increasing as is his production....I'm thinking he gets traded next month to a contender, then watch out.

I only watched his preseason games, but yeah... his ability to control his body in air and his spatial awareness on the floor are really good. He’s not just another rookie year Blake... there’s a lot of polish to his game besides the above the rim play. I remember him making some nice passes as well. If he stays healthy, there is almost zero chance he isn’t a perennial All-Star. Whether he can become a top 5 player remains to be seen, but he’s going to be a force on the court on a nightly basis.

This is about as narrow a view as those saying that Zion is just a dunker. People still collect AD after almost 10 years without an MVP or even a conference finals appearance to show for it. There’s nothing wrong with that if you like the guy’s game, but he’s never going to be some hobby sensation. One title as Lebron’s wingman won’t change that either.

People collect all sorts of players. If Trae was going for Luka prices I’d be scratching my head, but that’s not the case. Trae is going to be an elite PG in the league for a long time and has a very fan friendly style. Should people just not collect him at all? What’s reasonable?

People like to watch and collect exciting players, not just ones who win titles, so again... what’s reasonable? Should his Prizm Silver sit on eBay at $10 and not be bought? I think being 25-30% of Luka is about right. There are plenty of guys who are/were fun to watch that never won a title that still have decent collector bases. Should nobody collect AI, Vince Carter, Steve Nash, etc.? Trae most certainly isn’t a bust and will be a perennial top 10 scorer / top 5 distributor while having a lot of flash to his game. If he was on a winning team his prices would be 2x at minimum. That’s not the case right now, but he’s still a fun player that should be exciting to watch and follow for many years.

The only thing exciting about him is how much people are trying to pump him to raise prices to sell him off. My original post stands. Im surprised people are still buying his middle of the line player who has a couple of highlights and cant get his team past 10 wins. They have a .200 win pct. Real exciting.
