Interesting note, the Eagles opened up as 1.5/2.5 pt favorites swung to 1.5 pt dogs and are now 1.5 pt favorites again.

Sorry I didn't mean that literally I meant figuratively? LOL as in basically just one sided I don't think the Eagles have a chance but that's just coming from an AFC faithful who doesn't think anybody in the NFC is worthy haha

With how exciting the playoff has been.
You know the Seahawks and Eagles will be the same. Two bird teams going at it, in a do-or-die game.
Plus it is always exciting when the Seahawks are playing on prime time.

Helmet to helmet hit by a player the eagles should have picked up ten weeks ago.
After the hit McCown just took, you can be pretty sure the refs aren’t interested in protecting eagles QBs. If it was the goat you can be sure ther would have been twelve flags thrown.

17 points and 342 yards against is a pretty dang solid performance. The defense would have to get a stop either way, but taking the points keeps you from needing a TD (that would be a borderline miracle at this point) AND the 2PC - a TD to win rather than a TD and conversion to tie.

Agreed. Obviously Philly is shorthanded on offense, but it's not like the Seahawks D is a juggernaut. You need two scores to win either way.

I love the post game talk with DK Metcalf where he said, “me and Russ practiced that play all week.”
The play, DK literally runs in a straight line and Russ throws it to him. Philly’s CBs could never possibly see that coming.

That reminds me of Martavis Bryant. His rookie year whenever the local media asked him about a specific play he would just answer, “yeah go route”. He was a freak with a very limited route tree and grasp of the playbook. DK has a lot of work to do to become a complete WR, but why he can do can be really tough to stop.

Packers will win. They’re a soft 13-3, but they’ve been doing just enough to win all year. Couple that with a home game and they win.

Can someone who is smarter than me explain why the Eagles didn't kick the field goal and be down by 5 with 2 and a half minutes left instead of risk not making it and being down by 8 with 2 and a half minutes left? Is that too safe of a play call?

Figured they’d have another shot at it if they didnt convert and then got a stop. They were playing for OT, not to win in regulation. As a fan, I’m okay with the call. Live by the sword die by the sword... I like having a ballsy coach.

My guess would be that Pederson didn't trust that McCown and a bunch of backups would get that close again, and that it was their best shot at scoring a TD.

6:24 left in the 4th, if the Eagles kick a FG there it makes it 17-12. Plenty of time left in the game and even if Seattle goes down and kicks a FG, you are right back where you started, down 8. If the Eagles D holds and gets the ball back, TD wins the game. Missed opportunity by the Eagles right there. On the 4th down play, even with the ball thrown the slightest behind him, Sanders needs to make that catch.

I agree with you. The Eagles were too caught up in the moment, trying to dramatically change the Seahawks' overall momentum. Your thinking makes logical sense.

They weren't getting that close again
But they did get close again on the very next drive, and this time they had absolutely no choice but to go for it on 4th down again, because of the prior decision and the time left

And they would have had to go for it anyway. Down 5 is nothing, they still needed to score a TD. If they kick a FG at the end, down 2 need to still stop the Seahawks with no TO left and drive the field to win. That was not happening no matter what.

I think the problem with going for the FG there is that they hadn’t scored a TD all game. So they needed to maximize their chances to score one. They needed a TD 100% no matter what, so play for the tie and take it into OT. They didn’t have the personnel to FG it there and then go for a game winning drive. Backup QB, top TE is basically a decoy, your best WR was a WR4 to start the season, and you’re going to chew up field AGAIN to get a game winning TD? It’s possible, but looking at how tough it was to get into scoring position in the first place, I think going for it there was the right move.

Yeah... this. This part isn’t even a debate. The math works out that they were in 4 down mode on that last drive no matter what.
You could argue that a FG earlier was the right call. I disagree as I outlined above, but they were absolutely having to go for it after that.

Really surprised how many people thought losing Wentz was the end of the ball game.. Wentz wasn't doing jack 1/4 and almost threw a pick. Last game vs the hawks Wentz threw two picks and fumbled. I was more worried about a solid game manager like McCown at the helmet leading a run 1st team.
Random facts McCown is the last player playing in the NFL from the 2002 draft
In 2003 Seahawks injured Jeff Blake playing the Cardinals giving McCown his 1st start...Seahawks injuring Wentz yesterday gave McCown his 1st playoff appearance.

The Eagles lost... straight up. But you’re surprised that people think losing the guy who got them here hurt their chances? And you’re more concerned about 40 year old journeyman Josh McCown? Wentz had one game without a TD pass in the past three seasons. I like his chances to have at least thrown one yesterday.

So Wentz wasn't doing jack after 4 passes? Wentz is the reason they were even in the playoffs. Clowney single handedly took out the one guy they couldn't afford to lose this season. There is zero doubt in my mind, that with Wentz in there, the Eagles win that game.
McCown did great for what he was given, but ultimately the plays Carson Wentz can make for a team, Josh McCown can't
Seahawks beat us 17-9 last time with our 5 turnovers, there was zero chance the Eagles we're going to repeat that TO rate and still lost at the same score without their best player

Bar none the most injury plagued season I’ve seen from any Philly team in my life. And the Flyers are rivaling them this season already. It’s so bad one player was even diagnosed with cancer. Phillies also had half their opening day roster by the end of the season.

Yes surprised. Wentz is now 0-4 vs the Seahawks and considering he only threw 4 passes he's basically 0-3 but in those 3 games hes thrown 5 picks and lost 2 fumbles. Basically his history vs the Seahawks isnt pretty.
Seahawks have a history of having backups whether it be QBs or RBs come in and light us up. So I was nervous when McCown came in especially when his old a$$ started running for 1st downs in slow motion and we couldn't tackle him. He did well and ultimately lost due to bad clock management/4th down play calls.
Atleast Philly did the NFL a solid and eliminated the Cowboys from playoff contention...and for that I thank you.
