His goal tonight is deserving of its own thread. I can't find the video otherwise I would post it.
That goal was just silly.

That was a beauty! The kid is special, which is why I don't have a problem adding him to my collection even if he doesn't play for the Leafs.

I went to the bruins game Saturday versus the oilers. He shines, man.

There's not a more fun player to watch than Connor McDavid, my goodness.

I chuckle when people put McDavid and Mathews in the same “generational” category. McDavid is not just better than Matthews but is better than anyone in the league by a wide margin.

When ppl (like myself) call Matthews a generational talent, we are not comparing him to McD on any level. It relates to teams who have generational talent or #1s, and those who do not. The Habs' last generational #1 was Guy Lafleur. So, when we see Matthews (and even Marner) we wish we had either, as our generational talent. We drafted Wickenheiser instead of Denis Savard. Had we drafted Savard, he would have been our generational talent. Was Savard in the same category as Mario or Gretzky? Of course not. Was Ray Bourque a generational talent? Absolutely. And Savard's five 100+ point seasons are testimony, as is Bourque's first all-time in points. Even if Gretzky had 200 point seasons as if he was popping candy into his mouth.
Whether Matthews proves to be a Patrick Kane is unknown. Is Kane a generational talent with three Cups? 100%. OV and Crosby obviously are. But that doesn't make any of them Gretzky, even if OV passes Gretzky.
It's just a barometer for horses at the head of the field, even if one is lapping all the others. Lafreniere will very likely be a Kane+, and a generational #1.

This better be an attempt at humour, otherwise this may go down as one of the most obtuse statements this year.

What has McDavid done this year to disprove that...???
The best in the world but has less points than his teammate.
Not like he plays defense or is clutch with his goals..
Crosby/McDavid the best in the world but get outplayed by their teammates all the time.
Imagine Messi/Ronaldo/Jordan/Gretzky allowing a teammate to be even close to them in their prime...

This comment oozes pure stupidity. No thought has gone into your comparisons, not to mention there are 28 games left in the season for them...
Unfortunately I don’t have hours dedicated for teaching you how to make objective observations, nor going below surface level. Might want to tune into some Oilers games...
You have always had a history of bad takes in all sections of the forums, but this one is up there for the worst take you’ve made.

You have a point and you don't have a point at the same time.
If we simply measure "best in the world" against points right now, then yes, McDavid is not better than Draisaitl. The interesting thing about this is that for the past couple years the narrative has swayed to "McDavid is better than Crosby" because of the points.
Here's what I think. Crosby is still the best overall player in the game, Ovechkin is still the best goal scorer in the game. McDavid is leading the pack by far to take the mantle. He needs to understand how to lead his team better. It's a knock against him that he's as dynamic as he is on the ice and staring done a record barely above .500 with little playoff success. Both Crosby and Ovechkin are not just defined by how they perform on the ice, but also by how they have elevated the games of the guys on the ice with them as well as what they have consistently accomplished throughout their careers. McDavid is not there yet.
Looks like McDavid won't win the Scoring title again...:o
Draisaitl carrying the team on his back with 9 GWG...
