“The Rocket” movie

I consider myself pretty in tune with hockey culture and I never even knew this existed. From 2006, Movie about Rocket Richard co-produced by Patrick Roy. Lots of modern NHL cameos including Vincent LeCavalier playing Jean Beliveau and an epic fight scene between the lead actor and Sean Avery’s character. I won’t spoil that but it’s very satisfying.

Anyway, highly recommended movie. Check it out.

Got that movie in my DVD collection. It was one of my must buy films when I first heard about it. I totally recommend it to my fellow hockey fans.

Ya, it's a classic in Quebec. And it was exceptionally well cast. My grandfather knew the Rocket. And even in his later years he liked hanging with very modest people, with backgrounds like his own.

Another good one, made only last year IIRC, is the Terry Sawchuk story. The makers tried to get a general release in the theatres, but with little success. Tragic figure, and raw in it's story telling.

Totally picked this movie up from Amazon on Blu ray to watch with my boys this past weekend since it's not on Apple, Netflix, etc. and whoops...bought the French version. I can watch it with English subtitles but still.

I dated a girl in university and Maurice WAS her grandfather.
Met him several times. Humble guy. Big on Quebecois rights and freedoms.

CBC in Canada only puts it on TV about a dozen times a year... LOL :p
