Hello everyone...
I'm relatively new around here. The short story on my background is that I collected extensively through the 90's in my pre college days and pretty much haven't bought a card or a pack since 1996 or so.
I've been reading the forum, watching pack opening Youtube videos and have gone through my old collection. The hobby has changed a lot since the 90s. I think I'd like to dabble again but am more interested in targeting singles versus busting wax.
One idea that I had that I thought would be cool is to collect every Future Watch Auto for every first overall pick since future watch first started (which I believe would be with Kovalchuck in 2001). Targeting all non graded. The total rough estimated cost of doing this would be around $8-$9K based on current prices so it is something I would have to do slowly over time...McDavid and Crosby cards are both around $2,500. The only player that does NOT have an auto is Rasmus Dahlin as from what I've read, he has never signed an auto so for him I'd have to just buy his Future Watch non auto card.
So anyway, I've got a bunch of ebay searches saved and keep checking out new listings of Future Watch autos to try to get a better sense for price/demand. In the meantime, I keep exploring all the facets of the hobby and seeing what else I might like to collect. Another passion of mine is 90s inserts, so I may explore that as well.

Will definitely make a dedicated thread for the future watch auto first overall collection once I get it going, which hopefully is imminent as I am close to closing on purchase #1.

Are you going to purchase them in order or just as they come up for sale?

I'll just be looking for deals and seeing what pops up. No order. Will have to pace myself on the more expensive ones (Ovechkin, Crosby, McDavid). Those are the 3 that are $1000 plus...though Austin Matthews is not far behind.

Auston matthews raw is about $850 or so? I picked up a matthews 9.5 at $960-ish about a month ago.

Yes, raw he is around $800. $960 for a 9.5 (I assume PSA?) is extremely good, nice pickup!

Picked up my first Future Watch Auto as I attempt to collect all of the 1st overall draft picks since 2001.
Concerned that I overpaid and want to see if anyone on this forum has feedback before I buy more of these so I can correct any early mistakes.
Card was listed as "Mint to Gem Mint" condition. Photo was not great quality so tough to make out details. Most eBay listings are "Near Mint to Mint" listed for quality so I figured this one was good.
However, it has a corner ding. Pretty minor, hard to see visually unless you are really looking for it, however under a jeweler magnifier, clearly the corner is damaged. I wasn't expecting perfection, but four perfect corners seem reasonable given the condition he listed for the card.
Somewhat disappointed and not sure if I should raise a fuss with the Seller or just deal with it as I try to always be reasonable in my eBay dealings and treat others how I'd like to be treated.
Not sure if cross posting is allowed, but I have a thread in the Graded subforum if you want to see pics of the card/corner.

What are you asking here? So many details missing.

I think I'm good. Was really just asking if a corner ding is acceptable for an item sold on eBay as "mint to gem mint." Some folks helped me out in my post in the grading subforum.
