Got into a back and forth this morning on twitter after I had seen a guy make his “selling rules” and it said friends and family payments only. I didn’t specifically call out this seller but just in general how many people only want F&F payments and I said I think it’s BS.

I guess I’m an idiot but I think if I’m paying for goods, I should pay goods and services. Of course the “PayPal doesn’t need our little fees” crowd comes out. Even had one guy says it helps avoids taxes. Am I alone in thinking these arguments are absolutely ridiculous?!? PayPal provides us a service and in turn we give them a small portion, doesn’t seem way off to me plus I think if it’s that big of a deal, raise the price a bit to cover the fee.

Your not far off at all, in fact your absolutely right. No reason to be paying for "Goods" with anything other than the standard goods payment. Sellers who require this, are looking to limit their responsibility or the buyers recourse if a problem arises. The people who use the excuse "Rage against the machine", no taxes or fees are the same people who want you to pay with Friends and Family.

If sellers are worried about the fees they should just incorporate them into their selling price....same with free shipping.

I NEVER use F&F, even with people I've bought from many times. There are fee calculators out there that figure how much extra to send so the seller ends up with the amount they ask for.

Good to know I’m not alone here. Twitter has me thinking I’m an idiot (well I am, but not on this subject)

I agree with your point. About FF not about you being an idiot :D. A lot of razzes are FF and I do them only if I can stomach winning and never getting anything. It seems it's just the nature of things now. But I always pay goods and just tack on whatever I need for fees.
