Hi all. I’m mostly a baseball card guy (vintage plus some modern Cubs) but growing up in the burbs of Chicago in the 80s and 90s also made me a big Bulls fan. I’m planning on buying a nice Jordan around $3k-$4k and wanted to get your collective advice. I’m thinking either a 86 RC in 8-8.5 or a Bulls on card auto. I’ve seen a few from early 2000s which are visually appealing. I don’t care that much about “investing”, but I want something that will at least hold most of its value. I’m placing mostly emphasis on visual appeal and wow factor. Advice?

“I want something that will at least hold most of its value.”

MJ cards will never go down in value but if I had to choose, I’d go with a rookie card such as the 86 FLEER. Pony up a little more and you can get a PSA 9

A Rookie Card of MJ is nice but a bit boring.

I'd grab an MJ Ultimate sigs Auto from either 03/04 or 06/07

I would take my own advice but when you watched them sell for $500-$600 for a few years it's pretty hard to pony up the cash these days, also factor in the 1.5 times multiplier with the exchange rate to ausd currently. Fml

You're welcome.

I think you'd be happier with an auto seeing as you're not concerned with the investment side of things. I'm an mj collector and i've never been able to pull the buy trigger on his rc card. Everytime I go to purchase a high-end card there is always a nicer looking flashier card that catches my eye over his rc card.
Both rc and autos should at least hold their value so that's one less thing to factor into your decision making process.

Both? You can get one of those camp signed fleer rookie sticker with that budget.
