I was going to do a rookie of the year thread because I still think Zion can win it with how dominant he's been, but rather than have ppl voting off of technicalities to receive an award, I figured this would be better.
Who is better, Zion or Ja?
Please discuss, I'm interested to hear everyone's takes and opinions.
I personally feel Zion blows Morant out of the water. But Ja seems to get a lot of praise.
*Disclaimer* the best card I own of either of these dudes is a donruss base.

Simple, if healthy, Zion. If Zion is hurt/injury prone, Ja.

At this point in time it's probably too close to call

If Zion was playing all season, or even say 50 total games at this level, he'd be ROY and it wouldn't even be close. He's already averaging 24ppg on 60% shooting without being in shape or integrated into the offense. I'm "invested" in both, but even if I sold all my cards tomorrow I'm a fan. Not to say Morant isn't great, I love that he's like a mini Westbrook, but Zion is going to be dominating the league for years.

Both matched/surpassed expectations.
Two different players with special talent.
Zion is doing all the damage inside the paint. Dunking and lobbing. Still has to improve his shooting. NO was already seed 9 in the West without him.
Ja is very athletic. Doing everything from passing, shooting, getting to the rim, hang time. Memphis is seed 8 because of him.
I really like both. Will never forget that optic box with Zion and Ja Silver Holos inside.

Zion is definitely more of a global icon - a guy who will sell out seats and have ridiculous jersey sales. Ja has one advantage, though, and it's that he touches the ball on nearly 100% of the Grizzlies possessions. Zion currently has to rely on other guys to get him the ball a majority of possessions.
All that is to say - I think Ja is currently better / more valuable but Zion has a way higher ceiling if he can ever become a point forward style player.

I agree with this. Zion right now is pretty one dimensional.

Fun question. Zion
Zion is 19 years old dropping 30 bombs on the Lakers and making it look EEzzzzzz...because I have a few of his cards he's the next Lebron. If I didn't have any of his cards, he'd be the next Julius Randle.

Zion is better within less than a foot from the rim. Ja is better everywhere else on the court...…….#bullyball

This kind of transparency is not only admirable, but encouraged.
I pulled a donruss jersey card of Kevin Porter Jr. I now refer to him as Elgin Baylor reincarnated.

 Love it. lol
Ja as a player and versatility.
Zion for star power and paint dominance.
Both are great and can have a really bright future if they are healthy and keep playing well.
I voted Zion because I personally like him over Ja but they are very good players that have high ceilings.

This
Zion is better. That isn't even really a debate.
Now who should win ROY or something like that? Since Zion was hurt? That's the debate

Zion=Barkley
Ja=D Rose
That’s what I see in them, potentially, as far as talent and impact. They both have superstar potential.

Zion is the better player. Ja is still the more likely ROY candidate at this point.

I didn't answer. All I will say is that it's going to be fun watching both for years to come.
They are like the Acuna/Soto of the NBA right now.

Ja for me.
ROY isn't even close to me but I'm biased in Ja's favor. 54 games played vs. 15. Even if Zion plays every game for the rest of the season (which he won't), he TOTALS 37 games played. That is not enough to undo what Ja has done for the Grizzlies for the year.
No whammy, no whammy no whammy!

Not much from Zion today besides layups. At this point, pretty one dimensional. Missed an important rebound and FT. Every game from here on is important.
He has a nice scoring streak going but Ja does much more on the court to help his team win. With Lillard back I can see Portland making a push for that 8th seed.

Ja is electric as #@#@#@#@.. I'm not seeing that in Zion just yet.
