Road to Opening Day Project (Moved)

With everyone quarantined, I decided to rip through my old Opening Day boxes. I don't think these ever really appreciate, but for some reason I had been hanging on to boxes from most years - so I filled in a couple of the blanks, and away we go!

Every day I am opening up a box of Opening day in chronological order from the products inception through current day. I was hoping to leapfrog it into some baseball discussion for each year, as I love discussing award winners, memories, stat lines, etc. Just my way to try and fill some of the time void for those who are bored.

Added in 2006. This was definitely a big step for the brand in my opinion as they added in the serial-numbered red foil parallels which are pretty sharp in my opinion.

During the break, I think I actually hit probably the best parallel you can pull - Mickey Mantle card #7!

Am I mistaken in that there's numbered cards in this set? I thought there were, but I pulled none in a box.

I don’t think there were any numbered in 2007. I actually don’t think in 2008 or 2009 either.

I did some digging, and apparently 07 did have numbered, but after looking at some on COMC, they are extremely tough to distinguish. Really bad design in my opinion. 2008 definitely does (as I'll be ripping that tomorrow), but for another crazy reason, they are numbered to 2,199 lol. That said, they look much much better than the base. I think 2009 OD then resumes some normalcy in numbering and design.
