Kobe Inserts from 97’ to 99’

Hi everyone, just wanted to share my Kobe insert that I recently purchased.

I recently purchased this card not because it was one the ‘In-demand’ cards but I just like the phrase ‘King of the Sky’ and the fact the MJs opinion on Kobe is on the reverse.

Hope everyone shares their Kobe 90s inserts as well.

Had my eye on this for a long time, even pre his passing. Finally just decided to pull the trigger... man.. I think this card really does capture a certain time frame and now it carries some more weight since he's gone - to some Kobe really was the soul of the game.

Man, idk how close values even are, but I'd maybe trade my Court Masters for a Stars. I love those cards. I pulled, and still have, a Ray Allen from a blaster type box back then. Awesome looking cards.


But then, a few years ago, I traded for a Marbury stars, and it's not shiny at all., just a weird tiny strip of gold, sparkly foil. Weirdest thing ever haha.

Pulled the regular version myself a few years ago, and acquired the 500 Volts parallel a few months ago.

Soul of the game insert... pre his passing I believe around $40-50.. I grabbed this one at $70 and that was cheapest on ebay.

Just snapped an 8.5 for $89

I don’t normally take risks buying older raw cards for than $30. You never can see what’s going on with the card. Though you could get lucky with the card being a 9 or 10

I would think they are the same in value, around the same pack odds although I’d have to check. That’s a great pull with the ray, wish I’d kept all the cards I pulled back then. Hope you got another marbury for the pc! I love the photography on all the players.
I like the court masters concept with the home and away photos, plus the nice embossing. I’d prefer this set over ultra stars design wise.

Yeah, I think they were the same odds. Either 1:288 or 1:144. Cant remember exact.

Nice Marbury and Kobe! The Ultra Stars were 1:144, but the golds were rarer and represented 1/10th of the total print run. 20 in the set.

The ultrabilities Superstar was 1:288. Both were out of series 1.

I pulled a Kittles Ultra Stars, Jordan and Kemp Superstar back in the day.

Series two featured Star Power, Star Power Plus (1:36) and Supreme (1:288). Court Masters was found in every 144 packs.
