View Full Version : eBay return, can't refund buyer

I sold a card, which the buyer has returned. I got the returned card today, all is fine. Except I can't refund the buyer. I tried to follow eBay's refund process, but when I click on the "Refund Now" button it just says: "Something went wrong. It's not you it's us. Please go back and try again." I go back try again and same problem. I then went to the PayPal transaction and tried to refund there. But it also can't do a refund, it just says "Unable to process request." Strange, I've never not been able to refund.

Anyone seen this before, know what to do? I'd call eBay but I don't want to be on the phone for 16 hours trying to get ahold of someone. I'd like to refund through the eBay system so the refund is legit and all.

Thanks for any advice.

Alex

Is it in your Paypal Account? I had this same problem and ended up having to put money in there before being able to refund (played the "gift game" with a friend to get it there quick)

Ah, no my PayPal balance is currently $0. But I do have my PayPal account tied to my bank account. But you must be right. I just tried to transfer some money, it says it'll take 2-3 days. Ugh. Hope the buyer doesn't get upset. eBay says I have until the 24th to refund so it shouldn't be an issue from them.

I had the same issue yesterday and it "magically" fixed itself today. First time I have seen this issue as well. Weird indeed

I was finally able to refund the customer (through eBay's refund interface) once my deposit from last Friday updated in PayPal. Just updating for any future refunders with same issue.
