Buyer bought a fairly high priced item ($300) but has only 2 feedback , both positive. I asked him for references before accepting and he provided a couple people he said he knew through Facebook and one of the guys was someone he said he subbed cards through and they were people I knew so I figured we were good.

I checked with the guy he said he subbed cards with and he said he has never heard of the eBay buyer.

Also, his first message after purchasing was "just a quick question but will this card be insured while shipping?"

Just not sure how to proceed. Signature confirmation on the package protects me as a seller fairly well but they could still claim other things and try and screw me.

Just looking for some thoughts

remember - insurance protects the seller, not the buyer

Personally I'd cancel and refund. Then on to your BBL.

He paid ship it.. Some new members don't really understand how things work and think insurance protects them not the seller so they ask.

Maybe the facebook member knows him by his real name not Ebay ID, but that is something you should have verified BEFORE accepting. 300 dollars you have the same protection with tracking as you do with signature especially right now when many carriers are not getting signatures at all.

By cancelling you get the defect on your account, lose the Paypal fees and buyer can still leave feedback.

Not possible, he was shown both username and real name

You still accepted BEFORE you got that verification.

As far as that goes unless I had an issue or they buy a lot from me I would not know the name or Ebay ID of anyone that I sold to today and really do not care. Could be that as well.
