HELP GUYS, Mahomes mix up :(

Alright guys, really need help of the board here…. Never been in this situation…
Any insight/ suggestions very much appreciated....

So I bought a Mahomes 9.5 Blue Prizm /149…. For $2,000, April 27th....

Seller just messaged me saying my package is suppose to arrive today and to let me know he accidentally sent me a PSA 10 Anthony Davis instead- (Sold by the seller for $775)

He’s telling me to send the Davis back ASAP today, (haven't even gotten it yet), not to open and just sent back.... Shouldn't I at this point, at-least open the package to make sure or take his word and not open it? and just send back?

I just want my mahomes card i was so looking forward to getting.... I dont want a refund...

He said to also open a claim, but if i do open a claim, won't it just refund and close out, once item is confirmed delivered back to him? Essentially losing the card, but getting my $ back?? Or would he be able to print a new label, and send me back correct card once he gets the psa 10 back (he says he can but i didnt think thats how disputes worked?). But maybe for wrong item?

any suggestions are super appreciated.

PS He said he wont send the mahomes until the psa 10 is back, which is what sucks.

Any particular way I should open the claim? To give him option of re-sending correct item?

He said he wrapped the AD up with all this stuff to protect it, with yellow tape around so he would know i never opened or messed with it if it did arrive back to him damaged....

So i paid May 2nd as seller and i agreeded to . He sold Davis Friday May 1st... and shipped both Monday May 4th... so it does add up...

I really do think it was a mix up....after talking on phone and talking/vetting him best i could respectfully.

TY. And he wants to fix this... I can only imagine if i opened it before i got his message!! That's what gives me some hope, and if i get the screen shots the other buyer sent him, saying he got my mahomes, that will help too..

Bingo. Forget about the card. Just focus on getting your $$$ back...then you can worry about that card!

If he has the Mahomes he needs to send it, he should not be waiting on you to fix his mistake. I would neg him in a heartbeat for that. That is a bad move on the sellers part.

Also telling you to send it back without opening sounds like he is trying to get you to void your protection which would allow him to keep the card and the money.. Thats a huge red flag for me as well.

I would not hold the Davis hostage, I would file the return and let Ebay handle it all. Once they tell you to return do so regardless of if you have the other card or not.

DO NOT hold the Davis card. If that is what you end up receiving then just go through the proper channels to get your cash back ASAP.

Personally I'd just hit return and say "item not as described" and get your money back. Make sure to leave a neg

I don't know how any seller could mix up a high end transaction that easy. and then not pay the 10 fee to have the mail returned to him. Then have the audacity to tell the buyer to just refuse the package. Seller needs to pay for you to return it, the only way to force that is to open the claim.

Go to Facebook and hit Ebay for business, they should tell you to open the claim as well.

STOP talking with the seller for now.

there is no proof the Mahomes will ever get back to the seller. forget that card for now and get your money back.

THEN you can maybe work out a deal with the seller for the Mahomes. but if you start playing all this wait and see stuff and lets just swap out cards, all of your PP protection could be gone.

Sellers sometimes know how to manipulate the rules to their favor. Had you done what he said he could have kept the card and money and got any feedback you left him removed because he would have won any claim you open.

With that much feedback he should know how the system works and should not be leading you into traps where you get screwed over unless he is up to something.

The switch is not the biggest issue, its him trying to get you to refuse and void your protection then trying to get you to open a claim that he would win on top of it. If you did what he said and opened a claim for not as described after refusing your claim would have been denied for not as described would be denied and your claim for not as received would have been denied. And you would not have been able to open another claim.

Oh i know. lol. i guess i just did it to make sure AD was in there like he said, and just incase it wasnt, i wanted proof to show him.... Wouldnt of matter though, but did give me a sense he may be telling truth....or so i hoped
