@cardhops is their handle
curious to see everyones opinion
at first glance it seemed like fake success due to shilling among other factors
I would have attached screenshots but I always struggle with that

@cardhopsThanks. Got it.
First tweet I saw was hyping up a card sold by probstein. It really is the era of grifters.

Step 1: Start paid cardboard investment advice service charging $50 per month
Step 2: Buy card X for $100
Step 3: Post that Card X is undervalued and will be worth $300
Step 4: Sell Card X you bought for $100 to suckers paying for your service at $200 each
Rinse, repeat

That cardhops group was free, then got turned into a pay per month service. You'll see more of these types of groups in coming months. I've seen instagram ads and even stumbled on random tik tok videos of others offering free card discord rooms to join. You can bet those become paid services as well.

People in SportsCardInvestor said that CardHops group got acquired by one of the sneaker groups and then started charging.
Seems like a rube trap

Cardhops was free but then the sneakerhead called Resell Calendar bought it and made it paid. Everyone wants to get a spot in Resell Calebdar so a lot buy into Cardhops hoping it will help them get in RC. They use a pump and dump strategy and their main “investing consultant” is a college kid who has been a part of the hobby for less than a year.

This all feels very similar to the late 80's when non card guys jumped in to invest into cards.

in the hierarchy of sports card industry scams, these guys are just at the bottom of the food chain.

This is why I stick to low numbered rare stuff where grade doesn't matter. When the bubble bursts on mass produced PSA 10s, there will always be a market for 1/1's and ultra rare stuff.

Really important to remember this as the market expands. Happy to have been leaning towards the sell side of things so far this year.
