Howdy guys, probably a dumb question but I’m finalizing a very large purchase from Canada and the seller is asking if he should declare full value on the package, is that cost something I would have to pay before I can accept the package or does the seller have to pay that when shipping? He seems to think I would be responsible for it. I don’t recall every buying something this pricey from Canada but I’m fairly certain I have from other countries and not been on the hook for the $$. Since we have lots of Canadian fellas here I figured this was a good place to ask. Gracias

I just bought a 500.00 card from Canada and there wasn’t even a customs form let alone any fees. I have never had an issue with buying cards from Canada. The only problem has been selling to Canada, the buyers had to pay an import fee. This was because of NAFTA. I’m not sure if it is still like that or if the new trade deal is in effect. You shouldn’t have a problem.

When a made in the USA product is being shipped back to USA, there is no tariffs or duties on the product. US customs is suppose to impose duties if the product was made in the USA but specifically distributed to Canada when it comes back. But they never check.

If its a USA product going to Canada, you bet your arse Canada customs slaps a duty on it over a certain value.

You have nothing to worry about in terms of duties and tariffs coming into the USA.
