Bought a box of Panini basketball for $100 hoping to get a Giannis rookie which I did, however then i noticed one card was a little different than the others. Turned out it was a Lebron Gold Knight, I beleive odds are 1 in 7000 packs to get a Lebron Gold? RIght now i have the only PSA 10 and only 2 POP.. Does anyone know the print runs on these? How bout the red knights?

Stealing info from this thread. Base set had 200 players, so Gold Knights in 2013 were ~1:4800 packs for single player like Lebron. (https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1363103)

Red Knight was retail only. Odds are not listed.

Not sure as it is a pop 1 per PSA's website.

Fun Fact I: there are a total of three PSA graded 2012 Silver Knights (all LeBron). I have an ungraded copy that I need to send in.

Fun Fact II: there are a total of four PSA graded 2013 Red Knights (Kemba, Vucevic, Giannis and Rondo). I have two ungraded LeBron's that I need to send in.

Not PMG's (they are pretty plain), but still really rare!

GIANNIS red knight total graded is 1!

Wouldn't it seam that the commons would bring more $. I also have a Paul Pierce value is ten bucks? Picked up 2 Durant's for under $20 on COMC.

These kind of remind me of the 2008 skybox ruby /50. Equally easy to overlook in that they're both barely distinguishable from the base. The hobby has a history of overlooking rare but aesthetically unappealing sets like this but people have had success pumping worse sets than this so who knows.

Nice pick-ups! Durant stuff has been underpriced (or unloved) for some time. Back in May, I bought the 12-13 Black Knight /10 for $35. His RCs have taken off, but there are still plenty of good deals to be had elsewhere.

Picked up 2 Durant's for under $20 on COMC.

Someone then puts a graded one on eBay for like $2k, it sits forever, then others started trying it. HYPE is absolutely what has driven these sales, not an organic desire to own these cards that drove prices up. That’s great if you like them. Collect what you like, that’s what I do.

I think that's partly true, but player collectors still care. A LeBron red knight came up with a high BIN a year or so ago and I really wanted it for my PC, so agreed to what was probably a pretty steep price. Would be happy to pay it again because I haven't seen one pop up since.

So, funny story. I bought the $600 card. Had to have one. The next week I spotted another one (!) in an auction with a terrible description (at that point, I was checking all LeBron auctions) and I got a second copy for $7.64. They are both at BGS, but should be back soon. Will post them both on here when they return.

There haven't been any recent sales to get a true value on it, but it's a strong card to someone who does appreciate the Gold Knights. Depending on the condition, it has the potential to be several hundred to several thousand dollars. I'd love to see a photo of it!

I agree - the reds do not look special at all. But they are very rare - I know of several collectors of common players who have never seen a copy of their PC guy.

The Panini cards themselves aren’t spectacular, but the Gold Knight Giannis Rookie does have a few things going for it.

1) The Panini #194 Giannis rookie is his only action shot rookie card.

2) High grades are tough because the cheap paper stock easily chipped and often had damage from the manufacturer. The PSA 9 base version sells for $250 as of today. The Gold Knights have a super low Pop Report.

3) The Gold Knights were one per box hobby box of 24 packs. So your odds of a Giannis Gold Knight was 1:200 boxes or 1:4,800 Packs. The Red Knights were Retail only and even more rare.

4) The Gold Knights are subtle and often overlooked which means many were thrown away. Being that Giannis was unknown back in 2013, that only added to many cards being tossed.

This hobby has always held strong differing opinions which I think is what makes it fun. Collect what you like and invest in what you believe in. With the supply of the Gold and Red Knights being low...it doesn’t take many people to have interest to hold value. I have several Gold and Red Knight Giannis, Kobe, etc. myself not because I went out and bought them, but because I pack pulled and graded them myself. I enjoy having these rare cards in my collection, but would gladly let them to go if the Hype became real and the demand actually commanded high values. I have seen a couple PSA 9 Giannis Gold Knight sells in Facebook groups supposedly go for $10k+. So...time will tell if these cards are valued long term.

Not to steal this thread but I have an Enes Kanter black knight 1/1 from this year. Unfortunately, it won't gem but it's still at PSA. I couldn't find any comps/values nor was it in the PSA system so I had to manually add it to my submission.

Looking years later.... I think the price jumps from pre COVID 2018 to post COVID 2021 are from COVID noobs. It's not just hype. It's still crazy in 2024. Zion base RC for example in 2019.

The Curry will be my last big name for the gold knights set. Im at about 66% completion. Product print run was so much less in 13' compared to now. This set isn't easy.

Terapeak shows a PSA 9 sold for $1250 August 2023. Probably still around $1000 nowdays.
