I purchased a heat press off of ebay for my wife. It was listed as "new in box". When we got it, it was obviously used, had a dent in the side, residue and hair/fibers in the press part, and to top it off, it would not even come on. I'm pretty sure the seller is buying store returns from somewhere.

I reached out to the seller with no response, so I opened a not as described return about a week ago. He has not responded to the case at all, and tomorrow is the day ebay said I can escalate it. I've never done that before, so I'm not sure what to do (or not to do). Is that something I do on the site, or do I need to call ebay? Is there any chance I will end up getting screwed here, or have to pay to ship it back to him? It weighs 60 pounds and is in a huge box. That won't be cheap to ship to MA from AL.

just escalate it as soon as you can and follow the instructions. do not have any direct contact with the seller. just let it play out through ebay and you should be ok that way.

Thank you for the response. I am a fairly experienced seller on ebay. I've had a few INAD cases opened on me over the years, but I doubt I have ever responded more than 20 minutes after I received the notification. I've also had very good luck as a buyer. It sucks that my first bad experience is on a fairly high end item. I can't imagine just ignoring a case. He has to know a neg is coming his way if he doesn't at least try to make it right.
