View Full Version : esnipe problems today :-(

Had two snipes set for today. Neither bid went off as scheduled. Both completed sales were less than what I had my snipe set for. When I logged into esnipe, both bids were still displayed as pending :-( Seems it's time to look for a new snipe service...

I'm fairly certain Captcha has put an end to all snipe programs.

I had snipes set for last week that worked fine. I won some and lost some but at least they went off as planned.

Thanks for posting OP.
I use them as a safety net to manually bidding, so it’s good to know if they’re having issues.

So, is this any different than a bot snagging Mega boxes online? Just wondering.

I believe it is very different. I set a price that I'm willing to pay. If I win, then great. If not, more power to the person who was willing to pay more than me. I work an 8-5 job. I can't manually bid on items that end at 1:15 pm. Nothing dishonest or opportunistic.

Everyone has access to a sniper program or could just bid on an item manually.

I personally use Gixen and pay the $8 per year to allow the 3 second bid offset and you also get the mirror service. there have been a few items I won by having the main site bid fail but the mirror bid as a backup and won.

And I’m not saying it is in anyway, I don’t know much about either honestly so I was just picking brains. Thanks for the clarity!

But don’t have access to a bot program?

usually the key to winning lies in the last 10 seconds. ive had an item I was selling go from $265 to $901 in the last 2 seconds while it was refreshing. showing your hand early by setting a bid can be easily uncovered or surpassed way early in an auction. I personally never bid early and honestly haven't manually bid in god knows how long. sometimes I set a snipe and it gets outbid early, but I know even by risking a higher bid, depending on the item, can still pay off....especially on a rare item or one I need regardless of price. Gixen informs me if my snipe gets outbid even before it executed and theres still time on the auction.

most auctions, sure im only willing to bid a certain amount. however given the circumstances, I can be willing to go higher depending on some things.

So why not just put your max bid within Ebay?

Bidding early gives shill bidders more opportunity to play their games is the main reason.

Why give another bidder the opportunity to find out what you’re prepared to pay? Or even the fact you’re interested at all.

You don’t need a sniping service to snipe. Can do it manually just as effectively.
But you physically can’t beat a bot at submitting an online order to a webstore.
