There is no transaction in my paypal account from this buyer. I don't want to click on any of the links on this message.
Why would I get a message saying to sign up for a paypal account??? Everything in the message is exactly the same except for the buyers email. If you see, Links are connected to sentences, etc...

Is this a personal account? If he sent a credit card purchase and you will have to pay 4.9% to claim the money.

I have a premier account. I don't know if its personal or business. How would you claim the money? I don't even see the transaction?

Nope. There is nothing in my transaction history whatsoever. Last payment I received was on September 20th. The last time I sold anything.

I don't know what they do with it but maybee they try to track down the IP address or something but any input will help stop those damn scammers.

Smells like a Phishing expedition. Do as the others mentioned and forward the email to Paypal.
A word of advice, NEVER login from a link inside an email. NEVER!
Always go directly to the site. Many dishonest people disguise the link inside emails and trick you into giving up your username/password.
I am of the opinion a law should be passed that people who send out these scam emails as well as virus authors can be shot on site. NO questions asked. BLAM.

I agree with you, there should be a global law enforcement to catch these idiots. I read that all of these programs add mass amount of electricity cause programs like keyloggers or just bots or all other kinds of things add 25% useage on each computer. Businesses spend so much money fighting it I wonder why they don't make a UN type of organization and catch the people who waste our time, money, and resources. There just won't be any action until something big happens like when they get into government agencies and spy and steal their passwords.

I forwarded the email to paypal. I would not dare open a link in an email that I'm suspicious of. I delete emails from friends and family that send those stupid emails with links to whatever just incase they are stupid enough to F up their own computers. You never know whats coming in your emails now these days.

Do you have more than one e-mail account that you use for buying and selling? I had something like that happen once. I sent payment to a guy for an item using his e-mail address and he had a different address for paypal. The payment went through and he got an e-mail telling him to claim his money.

I did change my email address. Would that affect anything though if I made it my primary email? I recieved the email at my old email address not my new one. I only have one email account on file with paypal. I had two emails for like 5 minutes. I know that I deleted my old email.
But I've been buying with my new email address and have gotten the normal notices from paypal.

I don't have the same email address on ebay. When I went to change my email address on ebay it wouldn't let me. Will that affect anything if the email address ebay has is different than the paypal address I have?

Hockey, when you send that spoof email to paypal they will reply back if it is indeed spoof or if it is a real message.

Well....I decided to add my old email address back into my paypal account as a secondary email and I received the funds from the transaction. As soon as I confirmed the email address it stated that pending funds will be processed in my paypal account. I am guessing that both paypal and ebay have to have the same email addresses........otherwise you will get the same message I got.
Now I have to figure out a way to change my ebay email address. The reason I changed emails was because the email format changed on my previous primary email and its a huge pain in the A$$ now. It takes forever to send and recieve emails.
