This is a somewhat new concept to me as I don't recall anything like this inserted into packs back in the day. How does one assign value to these cards (aside from straight auctions)? They seem to go relatively cheap compared to other low SN's cards, I suppose since they're not as sought after. Being that most look to be 1/1's, how can I figure out what's a fair price to pay for/sell one?

It is quite hard to judge pricing on plates, pokemaniac. It's not surprising to see common players go for more than star players (provided there are two or more collectors of said common player, or Paul). If you are a seller, perhaps you can put one up BIN/BO and see what offers come in.

Appreciate the thoughts. Thank you.

Printing plates might be 1/1s but there are multiple color plates for each card
Also people like framed plates over regular plates

Older plates go for more too
And even in the same set, it seems plates from bigger cards hold a little more appeal
