Like Hansel from Zoolander. Manute is the bigger Bol, but Bol Bol is still 7'2" with a 7'10" wingspan (he had 16 pts, 10 rebs, 6 blocks today). It's just fun to watch basketball again and see someone with so much potential free from injuries.

This is like a snapshot of how idiotic (greedy, opportunistic, fickle) a large, growing portion of the basketball hobby is. I was shocked when I returned to the hobby a couple of years ago how a players value would seemingly (real or phony) fluctuate on the back of a single game. I thought/think it is so ridiculous. You have somebody inflating a price on the back of a 'scrimmage' but you can bet as long as the sun rises, some moron will bite. I don't know whether to laugh or cry...

Over time those pages will ruin your cards. Highly, highly, highly recommend penny sleeve top loader and into a shoe box or any type of box.

You say this like its a proven fact. There is a ton of debate over it and if stored in the proper binders in the proper manner its not proven.

Additionally, people use binders to better look at their collection rather than keep in boxes in the dark forever.

Finally - any big PC cards or card above a certain value are definitely put into penny sleeves and top loaders. These Bols don't make the cut regardless of his temporary price increases.

That said I go back over my rookie binders every year to see if adjustments are needed.

To me this is the biggest indicator I've seen yet that we are in a bubble. It'd be one thing for his stuff to go 2x-3x overnight ... happens all the time. But 10x-20x ... wow.

EDIT: On the contrary, it really could just be so much additional money/membership in the hobby thanks to Gary Vee and the like. Gives me a weird feeling regardless.

I believe he has more upside than Zion, although I like them both.

He can shoot inside and outside, has a 7'8 wingspan, has ball skills, can pass and he plays DEFENSE.

Bol Bol will be an All-Star in 3 years or less, and will compete in and eventually Win an NBA 3-Point Contest.

But yeah man, I don't get it either. I like both guys, and i'm the biggest Nuggets fan out there, but I don't get the prices for either.. like, at all... Especially Bol Bol. I didn't understand it prior to this scrimmage game either. We already have a superstar caliber player starting at center... and then you have a starting caliber backup center (Plumlee).

Bol will NOT start at the forward spot in regular season games, let alone playoff games. There's no possible way unless everyone in front of him gets hurt at the same time. His best chance getting into lineup will be when/if Plumlee leaves.

But hey, if someone wants to spend 6k on an NT RPA because he blocked a shot and hit a three in a scrimmage game, I guess go for it..

It's a surprisingly not awful strategy. PSA to me seems pretty lenient on the first round of cards anyway and especially so on the Nic Claxton you send in sandwiched between Luka and Brady. The 10 rate is really high especially early on for the crap rookies and I sold PSA 10 silver Claxton's for close to $100 each. I was probably the only one grading them around Thanksgiving as a Nets fan and was pleasantly surprised at the prices. I'm still doing this exact move right now. I think you have to with turnaround times, anticipating is part of the game now. You want to have those 10s on hand when everyone else is just starting to send cards off

Sold my little lot to an overseas buyer. Priced it cheap, sold in 2 hours and guy paid right away. Takes some effort to make an int'l return on a couple hundred bucks of cards. I'll take it.

Honestly though Bol Bol has some skills man. Yea it looks like his body is about to snap in half any minute but when in one piece he has a well rounded game. He really could make an impact for however long he survives.

It makes sense NOW, but even 6 months ago you could pick up $20 bass 10s Of decent guys and silver 10s of no names. The $8 fee didn’t seem worth it to elevate a $5 card to a $20 card, considering the risk of not gemming. We’re definitely in wild/stupid times. If anything convinces you to sell and not buy in this market, it’s $hit like this happening.

He can clearly play, and I would imagine his pop is low compared to other rookies who played this year. When he played Wednesday, you could've commanded $40 for a Prizm rc. Earlier today, it was $15 because supply increased and people weren't sure if he was a fluke. I'm probably going to send in clean rookies (not just Prizm).

Only time will tell but the kid can shoot! Keep in mind that Nuggets are scrimmaging without a PG. Once they’re at full strength he’ll get much better looks. Jokić is a great passer but he’s not a PG.

You guys may be right, but I’m optimistic. If he continues to block shots at a high rate and his shot falls, coach Malone will have no choice but to play him. His minutes will come at the expense of a combination of guys.... Plumlee, MPJ, Craig, and probably Millsap IMO. Non of those guys can do what he does, but they are trying to win a championship so will see if he can gain coaches trust in the next few games. Great thread btw.

Big Bol fan and was happy when my Nuggets drafted him. I bought a bunch before the hype, nothing since. Everything he's doing now he's done since high school. The only thing is Malone will no doubt bring him along slowly (see MPJ), so dont expect too much once the games start. Prob gonna be a minute. The Nuggets rotation is pretty set.
