I almost wish they made 2 versions of wax this year. Wax with top 2 Zion and Ja and priced it accordingly and then a 2nd tier of the same product with no chance at Zion or Ja and priced that accordingly. You want to chase the big 2, by my guest. Isn't most 18-19 ahead of 19-20 now? 18-19 Opulence FOTL is selling for less than the floor of 19-20 FOTL after tax. This may be the worst gamble of the entire year for any sport. Wait until you see that EVERY rookie patch autograph is a booklet. We know how much in demand RPA booklets are! This and Mosaic Football hobby at $850 a box are a dumpster fire!

This is the only FOTL since I started buying with 17-18 Optic I will not even bother to look at. I guess you could go on the thing people say you can't lose on FOTL. Blowout is offering $1600 for 18-19. I think it was only $1500 a day or 2 ago. At one point last year BO was offering $600 a box. 18-19 is hotter than 19-20 right now. I'm not sure if everyone is aware but based on the previews every RPA is a booklet. Yes you will be paying around minimum $1.9k or more total per box and have zero chance at a non booklet RPA. Can't imagine the brutal breaks if this sells out at $2.5k or higher.

I think last year boxes were like $1000 SRP for 8 cards ($125/card) that dipped as low as $7-800, and were still heavy losers because you were paying a small tax for the boxes that had a Finals logo 1/1. This year you’re getting one less card for 3x the cost, and losing the LeBron finals stuff. I know to collectors this is 3rd tier junk, can’t imagine what they’re going to attempt to charge for Immac and Flawless. I imagine there’s going to be so many warehouses of unopened 2019 wax that distributors and BO end up sitting on because they’re so Effing greedy. NT is only 20-25% opened, I’ll be surprised if we even see 2 of the 13 Zion booklets get hit.

That’s because it’s only a theory put up by you? I’ll wait for the checklist, but to reiterate my earlier point on this, there were 150 RPAs per player between traditional and booklet. They would have to either adjust the numbering to account for that many, and come up with a lot more patch material, or they will have to reduce the print run. Both just seem unlikely to me. I believe there is going to be one booklet per box, but many of those will be Patch only, either rookie or Finals or All Star, so if they keep traditional RPAs the possibility of traditional RPA in the same box as a Finals patch could make some boxes actually worth it.

In the Panini store preview there are zero photos of regular RPAs. Only booklets for RPA. The way it is worded on that sell sheet says look for rookie patch autographs this year in booklet form. If it said also in booklet form I'd think both. But I guess we will see when the sell sheet is out. I've been wrong plenty of times before. But if there are regular RPAs no clue why it is not mentioned and not a single photo of one.

FOTL is dead for everyone but Panini. There are several reasons but the main one is instead of Panini waiting most of the pie they now want all of it. There is no reason the basement on every dutch amount shouldn't be MSRP. What was the last FOTL a buyer could make a decent amount on? Anything recently you would have to buy every box at the bottom just to get your money back or maybe make literally a couple dollars. Any boxes bought 1 drop from the bottom are a lose. I think probably 9 of the last 10 dutch auctions the basement was higher than MSRP. Heck, even on a unlicensed $92 baseball product next week the basement is gonna be $150.

What's gonna be amazing is when the checklist comes out and its shown all RPAs are booklet cards. Then for $3500 on hobby boxes most boxes will bring back under $400. In addition to that you can hit a Zion or Ja RPA booklet and still lose money on the box. At least with NT you have big upside at the box price. At $3500 a box hobby 99% of boxes will be worth less than $3500 and less than 100 total boxes will have over $7500 worth of value. There is some great upside!

This is one of the many reasons FOTL is dead for everyone but Panini. Also see the fake presales on ebay for most FOTL before release the last couple weeks. New buyers to the market that have no clue the value are being mislead and its hurting FOTL for everyone but Panini.

Tua is already sitting. If Burrow is bad or average 2020 football wax has gonna dip a bunch. Meaning all 2020 wax already released but 2020 Prizm Draft will be a huge lose. If they are gonna go 1.5-2 times MSRP as the basement on baseball you can forget any unlicensed baseball FOTL. 2020-21 basketball? Lol can't wait for 2-4 times MSRP basement while they try to pump that class as being anything near 18-19 or 19-20.

I don't think anyone with half a brain is being duped here. Preorder @2500 wasn't hard to find.

I came to post this. 100000000000% correct. Either way, it's almost all breakers doing this, so it's just a matter of time before it bites them. Perhaps next year's draft class will do it? The pre-sell prices are already Zion-esque.

Yeah they opened a lot of NT as well. The FOTL look better to me (not a fan of all the gold), but are nothing special. Interested to see where those land, I’m assuming a pretty huge loss for the case

Oh and looks like Moss was right about the standard RPAs being booklets, there’s a /99 Sekou booklet up with the 2 FOTL. It’s a horrible idea though, that’s a TON of blank space. they basically took the standard Rookie Autograph from last year and attached a 2 inch napkin patch on the other side. Last year making sure the patches were prime patches helped, I think if people were looking for an exact moment when Paninis price gouging came back to bite them, it’s going to be this release. I honestly don’t know if hitting a /99 Zion RPA will even pay for the box price.

I cannot believe they put that garbage in this high end product. Is the full checklist out yet? Those horizontal RPAs are awful. But I was technically wrong as I thought it was all booklets. I can't see most of those horizontals selling for very much though. I think the booklets will be worth more.

I still stand by what I said about this being one of the worst breaks of all time for hobby boxes at $3-3.5k a box. I don't think there will not be a single card that isn't a lower numbered parallel that will sell for more than a box.

watched a few box breaks of this and it's BRUTAL at the $3k price point. seriously, it's 7 cards which means if you're doing a random team break there's a 77% chance you walk away empty handed. of the 7 cards that do hit, one is a base, one is a book, and of the 5 remaining it is most likely 4 vets and 1 rookie auto. the checklist still isn't out (there's a link but it returns an empty excel file), but once it comes out I may do a quick & dirty analysis of the print run and what the odds are of hitting anything decent.
