With all of the love for colored refractors over the last few years, would it make sense that 96-97 Finest starts to take a jump? Jordan’s first silver and gold refractors, huge rookie class with the same, etc.

Maybe, but it does turn green. The biggest difference is that they aren't parallel cards, more like inserts, since the pictures are different from the bronze version.

I’m a fan!! And am in agreement with you OP. One of my single most favorite MJ cards. I have the RC for Iverson and a Garnett as well (should have bought Kobe but unaffordable for me now), they are beautifully done cards.

I think 96-97 Finest refractor is one of the most undervalued cards in the market now.

I dont like that theres three versions of the Jordan. The Silver and Gold are just short printed versions. They dont feel like part of the base. Gold Refractors are a case hit, so theyre rare for sure.

Criminally underrated. I follow this set and 96-97 products in general pretty closely and while it is appreciating, its still well below where it should be.
The Jordan gold is one of his five best looking cards imo.

One of, if not my favorite card in my collection and also a card that I’ve bought multiple times. These cards are amazing in hand and still have tons of room to grow in my incredibly biased opinion :)
I know some have talked about variations, but there’s really only one “official” gold for each player. The rookie golds are somewhat of an edge case since they aren’t considered a “true” rookie.

I didn't say there are 3 versions, just that the silver and gold have different pictures. I'm aware that some players, like Kobe, does not have the silver version.

These types of threads always hurt my soul. Beautiful cards but prone to the sickness

To coat or not to coat though? I think you've gotta remove the coating to take in the full beauty.

You need one of each, simple! It made me sad to see that I only have the bronze of my PC player :( I will have to hunt for the gold/silver, even if they turn green.

For an investor or a collector? Because I collect and Kobe and MJ is way out of my pocket.

That's ideal, if you can find and afford em. The gold refractors tend to get some greening, but they still look great imo.

But look at the Kobe 7.5. How great would it look without that veil? And probably mint or gem mint.

I'm just busting your chops. I'm a keep the peel on guy, but I totally understand the other side as well.

First MJ gold refractor and still way undervalued versus what it should be worth. For those looking for "value buys" in the current inflated market, that is the card IMO. Just picked up my third copy. Keep the peel on!

Damn man, peel that thing and resubmit.
A very good friend of mine had one of these, a little off centered. I sent it to BGS on his behalf and it got an 8.5. During a Kobe hot streak 7 or 8 years ago I encouraged him to sell it, as Kobe cards were taking off. He agreed and got $450 for it, which was probably double what it was going for just a few months earlier.
Whoops. That card would go for $5,000 to $8,000 now. Pretty sure they are far more rare than the Chrome refractor.
