According to this article that is how it is looking....

Panthers more likely to hold pick and take Cam Newton (http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/273150-panthers-more-likely-to-hold-pick-take-newton?xid=cnnbin&hpt=Sbin;cf03388EF4=D1D21D0A!NTAxNDgwMjAwOmNvcnByYWRpdXNzc286BJOxqmXC47xTYW6Amrq3Sg==)

This will be bad for Jimmy Clausen and Tony Pike.

No one knows until the team drafting first actually submits their pick. Lots of smoke and mirrors involved in the first round of the draft. Yes, they may actually be telling the truth and will take Newton but they may also be hoping that another team really wants Newton and is willing to trade them extra picks. That's what is so fun and intriguing about the draft. Until the commish announces the pick it is all talk and speculation. Plus if the NFL does not get anything done with a rookie salary cap I think teams will be hesitant to draft Newton due to how greedy his dad has shown he is:eek:

I voted give up and shut down.

Then again, I'm a die-hard Bucs fan and "You drafted Cam Newton #1 overall? HA HA HA HA HA!" wasn't a poll option. ;)

There should be a "Draft blaine gabbert" option

There should be a "Don't be stupid, take Peterson, Dareus or Fairley" option

Bad teams get worse by selecting QB's with "potential"

I realize this will never happen, but a boy can dream. The Panthers take Newton and trade him and Steve Smith to the Redskins for McNabb and their first round pick. Then the Panthers use the 10th pick to take Julio Jones.

I voted they should start Clausen but I hope they draft Newtown - every QB that goes in the Top 6 pushes one player closer to Cleveland at #6

If Newtown and Gabbert (or even Von Miller instead of Gabbert) both go top 5 then that means someone of the Peterson/Bowers/Green/Dareus/Fairley group (which is who I want someone from) is going to be available at #6 - which would be huge.

Interesting stuff....

SIDE NOTE:
I know it is a distinct possibility, but I am REALLY hoping Ingram doesn't go to Miami...I will have dry heaves each time I add a Ingram 'Phins card to my PC. :o

This reason but it applies to Buffalo for me. Please don't allow Buffalo to Aaron Maybin me again.

Panthers need to start looking at getting a line to protect who they put back there at QB...doesn't matter if you were to put Joe Montana in his prime behind the line they had last year, he would get killed...kinda like Favre did with the Vikings.

Carolina is starting to remind me of the Lions as far as draft day goes.

Too be honest he is going to carolina. new regimes equals new quarterbacks. No one in the organization beleives in clausen besides the GM. The problem is simple they have the worst OL in football, a declining wr, horrible wrs as a whole. Worst starting te in football last yr. Also a terrible defense so to be honest no matter who the qb was it wasnt going to be pretty.

The problem is there is no one that really is worth the number 1 pick in this draft based on position value.

QB. take a chance on newton hope he brings excitement back to the community. Plus since the new agreement newton wont be a high priced gamble any more wont have to pay him 40 plus million to see if he is a bust or not. So its a 98% chance he goes number 1.

so ps sell your clausen autos as fast as you can. Since he wont be worth much in 3 months.

Ol. There is no Joe Thomas in this draft

wr. wrs hardly go number 1 and the best wr in this draft wont be better than calvin johnson. Green will most likely go 4 or 5. Depeneding if the bengals cave to Palmers demands etc.

cb. There is a great one but I dont justify a cb going higher than 3 and he better be a top 3 cb in the league for 5 or 6 yrs. Patterson will be good and is the best overall player in the draft but value wise isnt worth a top pick or 2nd pick.

DL. have high postion value but Bowers has knee issues so he is a no go. I like Marcell Dareus but he is a way better fit for the broncos and he will be the 2nd pick in the draft.

Financially and postion value wise Newton makes the most sense and Ron Riveria wouldnt have went to the pro day for nothing. He went to meet his future franchise qb and the guy whose job is to keep him a head coach for more than 3 yrs

I voted they keep Clausen & finally let a QB play more than a couple games in the season. They need a solid starter & quit switching back & forth!!!

WalterFootball.com: 2011 NFL Mock Draft (http://walterfootball.com/draft2011.php)

absolutely love this site and read it daily..

i would be like a new fan again if the Bills listened to him..i mean id prefer Miller over Peterson (not saying Miller is better, just for the team)...

Miller, Kaepernick, Bailey, Matthews...boom defense fixed ;)

as far as the question at hand..

it wont happen but i still say they should draft AJ Green and let Clausen play with actual recievers...but that wont happen

would be interesting if someone did offer them a package deal though considering the gauranteed money isnt going to be an issue..might mean teams are more willing to trade up...i could see a trade like was mentioned (not neccessarily that particular trade), where they drop down and pick up a Jones, and an extra 2nd to help with OL..then can focus on D the rest of the draft..

guess well have to see

...what about Matt Moore? :p

Free agent, so they'll let him walk. He was less than stellar.

I think that Cam will most likely be the pick. They sent almost everyone in the organization to his pro day. The only person that likes Clausen is the GM, and what GM will admit to drafting a bad player?

They could potentially trade down. With a rookie cap that may be in place, teams won't worry about dishing out a ton of guaranteed money to the top guy. I actually see a lot of trades happening with a rookie cap in place.

There is no question that patrick peterson is the most sure thing pick in the draft if carolina passes on him there #@#@#@#@ing crazy. A chance to get a charles woodson type of player i have no clue on how you can pass on that for another QB
