View Full Version : Question about Shipping cards

Can everyone share the best method they found for shipping cards safely? I’ve been using a small plastic bag or team bag, putting all cards in penny sleeves, using a top loader for the top and bottom card , painters tape on top of top loader, then putting card board on the top and bottom, wrapping the cardboard with 4 pieces of painter tape and placing in a bubble mailer. Is there an easier more efficient way? It gets tiring cutting 50-100 pieces of card board squares a week by hand.

I guess team bags + small boxes would save you time...
I do pretty much the same method as you (except I try to top load EVERYthing I can).
But I only have like 30-50 listings up at a time, so it's nbd to me.
** I'll add -- Most of the breakers I use do not use any cardboard at all. Sometimes no sleeves[emoji849]..usually things get here fine...i wouldn't skimp on any part of packing/shipping though...its worth the hassle of keeping returns down imo.
Maybe investing in this type of envelope would let you skip the cardboard...but personally, I wouldn't deal with the risk (and would keep cutting cardboard):

For high-end I do that. For cards less than $20, I just top loader on the good cards than squeeze some filler cards. Then write a thank you note and wrap it. I've done this for as long as eBay was alive in 1998? I never had complaints on shipping, but 80% of eBayers just put top-loaders and that is it. At least some uses the multi-fold bubble envelope- I hate this because I can't re-use the bubble envelope. And 80% of the people here that I have received packaged securely and this is why I'm still here

I actually just woke up and thought about this as Im looking to sell some low end cards. Is there a safe way to use a regular envelope and a few stamps and top loaders for 1-3 cards? I usually send $50+ cards and use a bubble mailer and tracking #.

Size 0 or 000 poly bubble mailers. raw cards are penny sleeved, top loaded in a team bag surrounded by cardboard. graded cards are in a sleeve and cardboard. higher end items or multiple purchases in one order get a small box.
I never use paper bubble mailers as they are susceptible to water damage and tearing.

OP - i do pretty much the same thing as you except I don't put the painters tape on the top loaders, i figure having it in the team bag if sealed tightly it should prevent the card from coming out of top loader.
to echo what some have said i agree that you should keep using cardboard even if its low end. i have received a card that got slightly damaged/dented because of no cardboard before.

Any card over $15 I hand deliver. Not the most profitable way to do it but pretty safe

always use filler cards or cardboard. I received a bunch of cards this week that were just in toploaders in a bubble mailer. luckily they weren't ruined.

I also hate cutting cardboard but it is a must. I wonder if you can buy precut cardboard squares?

you can, found some on like ULINE and amazon. but is it worth it? I just cut up new boxes as I get them. lasts me awhile, saves a trip to the recycling bin. even if you could get pre cut cardboard, they still may require trimming.

Yes; Walmart Sells Card Stock next to its printer paper. I use this in an business size envelope or sliced in half with a smaller envelope. Ends up feeling almost like one of those card board photo mailer and ships for $0.70 for the 1st oz ($0.15+ each additional)

I used to do these, now I just find trash cards or select 80's and 90's sets and ship cards between 8-12 of them. Much cheaper and seems like some buyers like these random freebees, despite them being "trash" (I guess a PC card is a PC card!)
Penny sleeve, top loader, cardboard, team bag.
Pack decoys instead of cardboard works too.

Will happen even when using cardboard. Any envelope no matter how well it's reinforced can be bent by other mail or crushed under workers' shoes.
And writing DO NOT BEND is a joke.

I top load everything just because a card is junk to me does not mean it's junk to the buyer.

There’s a huge market for this! I would love to buy precut cardboard.

Do you have a link to those on amazon or keywords to search for? How thick is that cardboard?
