Welcome to Blowout's 10 Case 2020 Bowman Chrome Baseball player auction. (5 HTA & 5 Hobby)
What is a player auction?
Well, a player auction is very similar to a player draft break - except you bid on the spots that you want similar to any auction online. The few differences are: 1. forum posts are used to bid and 2. the bidding deadline is usually not set until the auction has reached (or nearly reached) the break even point.
We understand that player auctions are not for everyone - so please feel free not to join.
For your bids to count, you MUST include the card # and name where applicable. I might not allow a bid without these.
Bids are in $2.00 & $5.00 (once a spot reaches $20) minimum increments. Please, whole dollar bids only (no $5.01 bids). Please no +5 bids. (Because someone could bid $100 at the same time and therefore your bid becomes +105?) You can bid more than $5, but that is the minimum.

There is a minimum bid set for each spot already. Bids are in $2.00 & $5.00 (once a spot reaches $20) minimum increments. You may certainly bid more than the minimum.

Shipping - Shipping is extra, but we will do our best to charge you actual shipping. We will combine shipping based on your final lots as well. We can ship approximately 500 cards for $7.55 priority mail. If your total exceeds $250, we need to add $2.55 for signature confirmation. We can ship approximately 1800 cards for $13.00 medium flat rate. (These are last years #s. I think shipping went up slightly this year.)
Supplies - About $2 per spot. Supplies are extra.
Paypal Fees - $0.30 plus 2.9% for US. $0.40 plus 3.9% international.
Warning - If you pick an auto, you may get nothing. If that player has 10 autos, you get all 10; if that player gets 0 autos, you get 0. Same is true for all other spots.
Sniping - If you wait until the last minute, you may miss out. Fair warning.
Bidding - Please understand that you must include the card # where applicable. Bids without the card # may not count. Please do not edit your post though. If you made a mistake, simply post again with the correction. Please bid in at least the minimum increment ($2.00 or $5.00 once a spot reaches $20.00). You may not retract your bid unless it is an obvious error (like a $4000 bid instead of $40.00).

2. As ALWAYS, the host reserves the right to limit who is allowed in the break.

4. If you join this break, you must subscribe to this thread. It makes life SO MUCH EASIER.
5. The host DOES have a spot. If this bothers you in any way, please do not join. All breaks are done LIVE and recorded.
6. Once you receive your cards, please post in the thread that your cards were received. For anything outside the USA, we will provide the customs # as proof of delivery.

8. We strongly encourage you to bid what you are willing to pay. That way, if you are outbid at the last minute, it won't matter since you bid what you were willing to pay.
9. International bidders are fine, but International shipping with tracking is expensive and will be included. You must be willing to accept the tracking or customs number as proof of shipping and not hold us liable beyond that.
10. The host will run a couple small breaks during this large break.
A few things you should know:
1. We will start the break the same day the cases arrive - starting as early as possible (should take a couple days).
2. We will have recap videos up that same night.
3. We will mail your cards FAST - sorting 10 cases will take several days.

How many of each should we hit?
Prospect & rookie autos: ~4 autos including parallels
HOWEVER - rookies are generally rare in Bowman Chrome.
Prospect chromes: ~15 cards including parallels
Vet/RC chromes: ~22 cards including parallels
Some years prospects are more plentiful than rookie/vets (2011) and some years they are all equal.
Therefore, I am not guaranteeing anything, but this is what I am expecting.

I will place the bids as close to 10:55pm as possible, but if the server starts to slow I may place them a few minutes early.
I am NOT responsible if the server crashes and the PM bids do not show in time. Should be ok, but just in case.
(PM Bidding is a large disadvantage. Your best bet is to have a friend bid for you. Still, if you absolutely cannot bid, PM Bidding is an option.)
Sniping:
Sniping is perfectly legal, but no bids on XX:01 or later will count - so be careful in case you lose your player.
The art of bidding to win:
Let me tell you how I bid.
First, I decide if the spot is a steal, an investment, or a must have.
For a steal, I will assume there is another person who sees this steal too. With over 120 people bidding, somebody else has seen how low the spot is, right? So I will bid assuming another person is also trying to swoop in and get the steal. I will figure their bid into my planning and try to out smart them. My success rate is about 33% - but then it wouldn't be a steal at a higher cost anyway.
For an investment I just run the numbers. How many cards can I grade? How many will be color or variations? Then I bid at where I think there is still meat on the bone. Generally the player and insert spots are the best bargains. If I see another investor aiming for the same spot, I offer to partner on the spot rather than getting in a bidding war - just watch out for the second bidder on the grassy knoll - you two may not be the only bidders.
For a must have (like a pc player), I assume that there are two or three other people who will be aggressively bidding on the same player. I assume they will both bid wisely. I then bid assuming that they will both get 2 snipes in before the clock runs out. I overbid on these spots sometimes and sometimes I am right and just barely eke out the winning bid. My success is over 90% on these bids.
If you are just bidding $5 over the current bid, you will not win your spot the vast majority of the time.
Complaints:
It happens every auction.
There are no ties. One post is always first.
You must bid at least $2 or $5 (once the spot reaches $20) higher than any previous bid - even if both are time stamped at the same moment.
You will NOT be able to track all the bids in the last two minutes. It is not possible.
Bid what you are comfortable paying. If you win, great! If not, no big deal!

What is a player auction?
Well, a player auction is very similar to a player draft break - except you bid on the spots that you want similar to any auction online. The few differences are: 1. forum posts are used to bid and 2. the bidding deadline is usually not set until the auction has reached (or nearly reached) the break even point.
We understand that player auctions are not for everyone - so please feel free not to join.
For your bids to count, you MUST include the card # and name where applicable. I might not allow a bid without these.
Bids are in $2.00 & $5.00 (once a spot reaches $20) minimum increments. Please, whole dollar bids only (no $5.01 bids). Please no +5 bids. (Because someone could bid $100 at the same time and therefore your bid becomes +105?) You can bid more than $5, but that is the minimum.

There is a minimum bid set for each spot already. Bids are in $2.00 & $5.00 (once a spot reaches $20) minimum increments. You may certainly bid more than the minimum.

Shipping - Shipping is extra, but we will do our best to charge you actual shipping. We will combine shipping based on your final lots as well. We can ship approximately 500 cards for $7.55 priority mail. If your total exceeds $250, we need to add $2.55 for signature confirmation. We can ship approximately 1800 cards for $13.00 medium flat rate. (These are last years #s. I think shipping went up slightly this year.)
Supplies - About $2 per spot. Supplies are extra.
Paypal Fees - $0.30 plus 2.9% for US. $0.40 plus 3.9% international.
Warning - If you pick an auto, you may get nothing. If that player has 10 autos, you get all 10; if that player gets 0 autos, you get 0. Same is true for all other spots.
Sniping - If you wait until the last minute, you may miss out. Fair warning.
Bidding - Please understand that you must include the card # where applicable. Bids without the card # may not count. Please do not edit your post though. If you made a mistake, simply post again with the correction. Please bid in at least the minimum increment ($2.00 or $5.00 once a spot reaches $20.00). You may not retract your bid unless it is an obvious error (like a $4000 bid instead of $40.00).

What comes with each spot?
Prospect Autographs: You get every prospect auto for that spot including all parallels (base, ref, blue, shimmer, green, gold, purple, red, super, & plates). It does not include insert autos.
Rookie Autographs: You get every rookie auto for that spot including all parallels and variations (base, ref, blue, green, gold, purple, red, super, & plates). It does not include insert autos.
Prospect Chrome: You get every chrome for that spot including all parallels (base, ref, blue, green, gold, purple, red, super, & plates). It does not include inserts.
Vet & Rookie Chrome: You get every chrome for that spot including all parallels & variations (base, ref, blue, green, gold, purple, red, super, & plates). It does not include inserts. Rookies also include any rookie variations.
Farm to Fame: You get all base inserts, all parallels, all autos.
Stat Track: You get all base inserts, all parallels, all autos.
Dawn of Glory: You get all base inserts, all parallels, all autos.
2019 AFL Fall Stars: You get all base inserts, all parallels, all autos. & Relics.
Prime Chrome Signatures: You get all parallels, all autos.
Chrome Auto Relics: You get all parallels, all autos.
All-America autos: You get every one pulled. 5 names. Will be rare. (NOT ON CHECKLIST THIS YEAR BUT PROBABLY STILL IN THERE.)

Special Rules for this Break (By joining this break, you agree to these rules!)
1. If you hit a card worth $1000 or more, we will ask you to pay for Express Mail shipping & insurance.
2. As ALWAYS, the host reserves the right to limit who is allowed in the break.
3. If you join this break, you must be willing to pay by the deadline.
4. If you join this break, you must subscribe to this thread. It makes life SO MUCH EASIER.
5. The host DOES have a spot. If this bothers you in any way, please do not join. All breaks are done LIVE and recorded.
6. Once you receive your cards, please post in the thread that your cards were received. For anything outside the USA, we will provide the customs # as proof of delivery.
7. ....
8. We strongly encourage you to bid what you are willing to pay. That way, if you are outbid at the last minute, it won't matter since you bid what you were willing to pay.
9. International bidders are fine, but International shipping with tracking is expensive and will be included. You must be willing to accept the tracking or customs number as proof of shipping and not hold us liable beyond that.
10. The host will run a couple small breaks during this large break.
A few things you should know:
1. We will start the break the same day the cases arrive - starting as early as possible (should take a couple days).
2. We will have recap videos up that same night.
3. We will mail your cards FAST - sorting 10 cases will take several days.

How many of each should we hit?
Prospect & rookie autos: ~4 autos including parallels
HOWEVER - rookies are generally rare in Bowman Chrome.
Prospect chromes: ~15 cards including parallels
Vet/RC chromes: ~22 cards including parallels
Some years prospects are more plentiful than rookie/vets (2011) and some years they are all equal.
Therefore, I am not guaranteeing anything, but this is what I am expecting.

11:00 bids are ok, but no post time stamped 11:01 or later will count!
PM bids:

Send a pm bid at least 1 hour prior to the deadline.

May only send 1 pm per deadline - so please include all spots.
I will place the bids as close to 10:55pm as possible, but if the server starts to slow I may place them a few minutes early.
I am NOT responsible if the server crashes and the PM bids do not show in time. Should be ok, but just in case.
(PM Bidding is a large disadvantage. Your best bet is to have a friend bid for you. Still, if you absolutely cannot bid, PM Bidding is an option.)
Sniping:
Sniping is perfectly legal, but no bids on XX:01 or later will count - so be careful in case you lose your player.
The art of bidding to win:
Let me tell you how I bid.
First, I decide if the spot is a steal, an investment, or a must have.
For a steal, I will assume there is another person who sees this steal too. With over 120 people bidding, somebody else has seen how low the spot is, right? So I will bid assuming another person is also trying to swoop in and get the steal. I will figure their bid into my planning and try to out smart them. My success rate is about 33% - but then it wouldn't be a steal at a higher cost anyway.
For an investment I just run the numbers. How many cards can I grade? How many will be color or variations? Then I bid at where I think there is still meat on the bone. Generally the player and insert spots are the best bargains. If I see another investor aiming for the same spot, I offer to partner on the spot rather than getting in a bidding war - just watch out for the second bidder on the grassy knoll - you two may not be the only bidders.
For a must have (like a pc player), I assume that there are two or three other people who will be aggressively bidding on the same player. I assume they will both bid wisely. I then bid assuming that they will both get 2 snipes in before the clock runs out. I overbid on these spots sometimes and sometimes I am right and just barely eke out the winning bid. My success is over 90% on these bids.
If you are just bidding $5 over the current bid, you will not win your spot the vast majority of the time.
Complaints:
It happens every auction.
There are no ties. One post is always first.
You must bid at least $2 or $5 (once the spot reaches $20) higher than any previous bid - even if both are time stamped at the same moment.
You will NOT be able to track all the bids in the last two minutes. It is not possible.
Bid what you are comfortable paying. If you win, great! If not, no big deal!
