Hey all
Any info on this one?
A buddy just purchased it but hasnt paid yet.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-Upper-Deck-Artifacts-Sidney-Crosby-ROOKIE-RC-750-224-PSA-10-GEM-MINT-/353240775579?LH_All=1&hash=item523eca7b9b%3Ag%3AuT0AAOSwMFVfikJL&nma=true&si=K3toIYeqSDCKIsEFB5Uzc7DpVmc%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Card looks small when you take a closer look left- right, top to bottom it looks good.
Throw in PWCC + how notoriously hard it is to grade these ........ just raises red flags.
Any input before he pays?

Agreed that it looks smaller left to right, and yeah with PWCC and what's going on I would be second-guessing this one as well.

Compare to the width of this one in the slab:

Serial number on the PWCC one looks to be 535. I don't see a record of it on worthpoint.

The card looks trimmed for sure.
Even that small white "tail" on the bottom right corner is an indicator.
I've sliced a few cards up to see what the tell-tale signs would be of trimming, and the tail stands out from a top to bottom edge trim. You can see it on the back as well. The entire edge looks a bit off to me from the back side.
But why bid on a card just to cancel afterwards? Should have been plenty of time to suss it out first. Or did he only bring it to your attention after he won it?
And since when does PWCC do Private Auctions to protect bidder's identities. Reeks of shilling and manipulation. F-that!

Card looks super narrow in that PSA slab.
And weren't those Artifact cards notorious for poor edges/corner?
And don't all the known trimmers use PWCC to sell their cards?

Thanks for the input so far all. No 100% proof but compared to that PSA 7, the PSA 10 looks tiny

Lots of high $$ trimmed cards in that sub. PWCC shouldn't continue to sell cards that they know originate from trimmers. It's the same as still accepting consignments from them. Here's a trimmed PSA 10 Avant Lebron from that sub that I called out in the thread below. Top edge of this one is trimmed too if you look at the back.

I would also be suspicious of that one, for the reasons already noted and the PSA certification might have ties to a known trimmer, Will Jaimet.

His now closed account (qut9) is listed on a near by PSA 10 certification.

Another trimmed Lebron in the same sub, just taken down by PWCC this month.
Add PSA 10 #055/500 to the list of trimmed copies of this card. Left and right edges trimmed. Up for sale from PWCC this month and originally sold trimmed by PWCC in 2015. Most obvious area of note is the area denoted by the red arrow on the back top left. Also the big edge ding on the front left edge. This card can be dialed back to POP 3 and probably lower if anyone cares to look.

That's the only card he ever sold on that account. Case closed as to who this sub comes from.

pwcc does have a returns policy so when your buddy gets the card measure it up against another card. if they are different sizing pwcc will take the card back. they have fixed problems in the past from auctions happening a year before. since its pruchased on ebay with buyer protection your pretty safe as long as you dont wait to long

How does something like that slip through the cracks when they charge $30 per grade. Seems even more like a scam.

A ten is a ten right? Live by the grader die by the grader.
Or don't grade. Lol

How's that work? Of the 53 who bid on the first auction, did all 53 backed out, or is there something else going on?
I'm fully aware of PWCC's terrible rep and the current scandal, but I don't recall seeing anything like this before?
Was the original auction just a farce, or because it got outed on this forum, they thought they'd let some time pass then auction it again hoping no one would notice?

Top bidder passed on making payment.
Consignor instructed PWCC to relist (to maximize profit which is his prerogative). At least IMO.

The winner was the OPs buddy, right? Someone could ask the OP to confirm what his buddy did and why.

Wasn't reholdered in a lighthouse flip, so it likely didn't go back to PSA for a fake validation.
Paging Mr. Lichtman... you're needed in aisle 10... Or paging Nat Turner, you're the new face.

It's been happening a lot. The process where outed cards are turned over to the authorities as evidence is obviously not happening. And even the ones that go back to PSA are getting re-blessed by the same morons who passed them in the first place, or a new cadre of morons under the control of Joe Orlando and Steve Sloan.
But Nat and the new ownership group have full confidence in the brass at PSA/CU, right?

The irony of it all is that PSA has multiple people inspecting these cards as 'oversight' of the initial grader in theory compared to a BGS, SGC, GMA, etc. so isn't that their "job" to have the extra sets of eyes catch this?
Unless Nat's ownership group actually creates an in-house oversight group, I can't see why these types of practices wouldn't continue if they make PSA $$. Nat, as a collector, may look down on these practices but he's also a businessman and $$ rules all.

The integrity of grading firms is laughable. They are doing the exact opposite of what they are set up to do.
As for PWCC — I’ll never do business with them.

Yes, my buddy was the winner of the auction the first time around.
He wanted to show off his recent pick up, so I looked up the card, the seller and saw the price was fairly low for something this rare of Sid ..... and I told him in my opinion the card was trimmed but would ask the forums ( he is not a forum member anywhere, only on Social Media ).
Linked him the thread and he told PWCC he was not paying because the card was being called out as being trimmed.

Based on the relisting and description, it appears PWCC is choosing to ignore their own BS tenets. Sounds like your friend informed PWCC of the problem with the card and it doesn't appear PSA reviewed the card and PWCC obviously isn't going to refuse to sell altered cards and/or cards originating from known card butchers.

PWCC talks out both sides of their mouth. On one side they tell us everything "we want to hear", but out the other side, it's business as usual, and if that involves selling well known and proven doctored cards, then so be it.
It's a slap in the face to us collectors as they simply don't care about us, they only care about one thing and we all know what that is. $$$
