Technically a subset but man wish they would have continued to do these yearly.

I've always been a fan of 1993/94 Leaf, especially the backs of the cards with the city photos.
From an insert set, Pinnacle Epix, spread across several 1997/98 products, is such a cool set.

There's a lot, but 2006-07 Parkhurst will always be a top choice for me. Loved that product from top to bottom. Would love to finish my base set one day.

Yup me too- same age- first cards I bought at the corner store (we called it the Chinese store back then ;) ).
Said this a few times before, but try as i might I could just never get a Dryden rookie or a Bobby Orr- then realized that I was too late and was buying Series 2 packs! Never even knew there were 2 separate series. :D

2012-13 Artifacts. Not for rookies but love the design. Still working away collecting jersey and patches, currently at 86/150. Can see them all here.

From oldest to newest my 6 favorite:
1951 Parkhurst
1986-87 O-Pee-Chee (Just love this design)
1990-91 Upper Deck (The first "high-end" hockey card set)
1993-94 Leaf (The city backgrounds - before the Internet it was cool to see the other cities)
2004-05 In the Game Franchises Autograph Insert (335 across CDN/West/East/Update). 500 card base set was good too.
2013 Upper Deck Edmonton Oilers - Master set (Base + autos + banners + retired + patch)

I sold 99% of my hockey cards many years ago and only kept what I thought would be all that I would ever want. This thread is making me want to change my mind! :coffee: The only complete set that I had was 1988 O-Pee-Chee and I liked that one a lot. My favorite insert/subset was the Pinnacle Masks. I think they did them for a few years. I'll never forget pulling the first one having never seeing before...Mike Vernon Flames. Loved it! :)!

Senor: we can try and leave the hobby a lot, but the hobby just always draws us back in, buddy ;).

I loved 84-85 OPC. This was the first year that OPC seemed to up their photography game. I loved goalies as a kid and the goalie cards in 84-85 mostly have great action shots or at least goalies in their stance ready for a shot. And not so many of the classic "adjusting jockstrap during warmup" photos. Yes I'm looking at you, Glen Hanlon.

I also think there is going to be a lot of overlap between "favourite set" and "the set that came out when you were 9 years old" :).

Hockey? Probably 90/91 UD and UD premier.
I also really liked the early stadium club designs.
Non hockey, 85 Topps football and 86 Topps baseball...the jump in contrast with the predominantly black fronts always did something for me. I was also about 8 years old, so there’s that.
Maybe 89 Donruss Baseball.
....ooh 93-93 leaf studio signature series. Those were *gorgeous* cards.

Although I love the 70s and 80s OPC, I really like the 1964 Topps tall boys as a classic vintage set. Loaded with larger than life iconic stars that look fabulous in high grade.
For modern junk wax, I like 1990 Pro Set. The color and photography is top notch, and Jagr's rookie looks like it's on its way up for that set too. Throw in the elusive Stanley Cup Hologram and you got an economic, but super fun rip.

54/55 Topps is one of my all time favorites. Just love the design, very iconic. 3 cards away from a very nice condition set. Need Popein, Schmidt, and Chrystal only.
Pinnacle Rink Collection! Sucker for the Dufex stuff.
92/93 Upper Deck and Ultra because that was the product I was addicted to like smack as a kid. The Daigle WJC was GOLD back then!
90/91 OPC Premier because it was such a thing back in the day. I remember owning 3 of the Roenick rookies when they "booked" for $27. I had them in a 3 card screwdown and was all sorts of ballin' with those bad boys!
ITG Between The Pipes!
21/22 OPC is another of mine. Incredibly fun break, LOTS of value surprisingly. Just a generally good time for the money with so much variety. Did probably 7 cases of it and had an absolute blast doing it. Really brought back the actual fun of collecting when I could open some wax and not feel like I slammed myself in the car door when it was all said and done.

90-91 Pro Set (my first completed set)
90-91 Upper Deck (LOVED THIS SET, especially the Bure RC)
94-95 Ultra - Inserts were so good, Premier Padman, Scoring Kings etc
95-96 Collectors Choice, Skybox, Topps - I loved this year of hockey, my favourite year of cards, inserts were so good... deflectors, ice quake... this was my peak collecting as a kid
2012 Fleer Retro - I love the PMG's and basketball inserts with my favourite stars of the 90s
1970-71 OPC - my favourite set of all time
1954 Topps - best vintage design ever

Always loved the 1996-97 Metal Universe. Parts of the design are different on each card. Scan here doesn't give justice. Cards look way better when held in hands.
