Hi everyone,
I’ve held out buying a Luka auto, due to the whole mom/gf signing the autos, but now I’m really keen on purchasing one.
Which autos would you say are safe bets to avoid the mentioned problem? And is there anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance guys!
Appreciate the responses

Oh man this post is bound to inspire some very strong opinions....fwiw any Luka autographed card (both on card + sticker) produced by Panini or Upper Deck (I think there’s one UD Luka auto total lol) is every bit as safe to trust as any other player’s. People that are looking at blown up pictures and actively looking for things to nitpick have way overthought the whole Luka signature thing, it’s a rumor that started here and never circulated elsewhere or got co-signed by a credible source. People forget that:
a) an 18-19 year old kid who has to take time out of a busy life to sit down and sign his name thousands of times, each time in a fairly tiny window, is obviously going to produce signatures that look different when compared-Anyone who’s ever written for so long their hand cramps knows what I mean on this
b) in many if not most cases, panini has a company employee physically present or remotely viewing the athlete when signing, because they pay handsomely for that window of time spent signing and they know athletes can occasionally be tempted to have one of their entourage sign or something similar. **Crucially**, Panini prints explicit certification guaranteeing the autographs authenticity on the back of each card, and that matters quite a bit. They are definitely aware that many of these cards are high value assets, and if somehow they were found passing signatures that weren’t signed by the specific player on the card it would leave them massively vulnerable to litigation. Also, possibly more damaging than being sued would be the knock-on effect of having their golden goose of a customer base experience a massive and rapid loss of trust, a situation which could cut their revenues in half or worse practically overnight.
From Lukas standpoint, to allow someone else to sign, if he even had the opportunity to do so without a monitor from Panini observing, is not even close to worth the risk. I tend to think Panini probably has somebody keeping an eye on the signing, because he is possibly the most significant driving force behind the surge in prices of wax from the last two seasons, and is only a couple of years into his relationship with Panini. Other players would be bad to have a signing scandal with, but Luka is so important to the overall hobby it’d be catastrophic to have anything like that involving him. He’d be at the very least knowingly violating a contract by doing so, and a compelling argument could be made that it was outright criminal fraud. Now that these cards, especially his cards, are so valuable, the effect of having the public discover he didn’t actually sign even some of the cards could cause card owners to collectively suffer literally millions in losses instantly.
TLDR; Basketball cards, especially those having to do with Luka Doncic, have risen to the level of serious financial assets. There is way too much easy money to be made and way too many potentially disastrously negative consequences for either Luka or Panini to pull a fast one with the autos. People on this forum have too much time on their hands lol, they talk themselves into being paranoid.
