PWCC up to their usual hijinks.
Two auctions of basically the same card ended within 7 seconds of each other. Both with the same grades (9.5/10). Only differences are the sub-grades are a little different.
1st card (Serial numbered 09/15) Centering 9.5, Corners 9.5, Surface 9.5 with 9 Edges ended at 22 Nov 2020 at 7:15:26PM PST for $153.50

A mere seven seconds later...
The 2nd card (Serial numbered 14/15) Centering 9.5, Edges 9.5, Surface 9.5 with 9 Corners ended at 22 Nov 2020 at 7:15:33PM PST for $250.... $100 more than the previous card ended at.

Also note that BOTH are advertised "Population 1 of 8 - None Graded Higher"
private listing - bidders' identities protected
Uh, yeah okay....
How does this happen.

Someone pissed they didn't win the first one so they put in an overbid? I did that with a card earlier this year. I lost one by less than $1 the last second.....so on the next card, I bid up to where I should've bid on it anyway. It was $100 more. They weren't seconds apart though.

Always amazed on how cheap such a card goes. That’s a freakin Mike Evans on card auto short print, from the most desired base product at that time. Evans is an absolute beast with great stats on a currently hyped team.
What are people gambling on when they buy Chasepool, Lamb or Jefferson Sticker Mosaic Autos for more, when that’s the ceiling? They’re all Jerry Rice?

How do you think it happened?
Two people had $250 snipes in. Maybe they couldn't or didn't want to win both auctions. They picked the auction ending second to bid on because it's centered better. Unfortunately for whoever won, someone else had the same idea.

And the fraud defender has arrived.

I don't know. Something doesn't quite add up especially when they're seconds apart...

Tell me about it. Everyone's after the new shiny thing meanwhile players who are on a Hall of Fame trajectory get passed over by collectors.

I don't quite buy it. I think there's more going on between these two auctions and pwcc in general. It may make sense if the buyers are solely picking these up at a higher price just to crack them out and resubmit them to PSA. Something doesn't make sense here....

I like the auto better on the $250 sample. Doesn't justify the price difference but $250 isn't an outrageous price IMO.
It could be organic. This coming from someone who refuses to bid on PWCC items due to the shill bidding and card alternations/conservation.

Of all the things wrong with PWCC, this is the one to make your stand on?
This one honestly doesn't even warrant a thread. There is already a thread out discussing them hiding the identity of all bidders.
They are scum and I stopped buying from them about a year and a half ago.
However, this is probably the least egregious thing I've seen posted about them. There could literally be 100's of threads similar to this on a weekly basis if this was an actual issue.

These are out of 15. They're not popping up everyday. I can see someone overbidding to ensure they get one.

I don't have any experience with pwcc. I've heard more bad things than good things. So it's the only reason I created this thread just to point out something strange that I saw.
Maybe this isn't so strange maybe it's just par for the course. I just figured I'd bring some attention to it.

I'd hate to be called a "fraud defender," but an Edges 9.0 vs. a Corners 9.0 isn't apples to apples. I never bid on a BGS 9.5 with 9.0 corners. Never.

In general though, that's like saying the sky is blue. The bottom line is nothing is going to stop the owner of the card from bidding it up to where they want it.

I like Evans, but get why he's passed over. He arguably hasn't even been the best receiver on his team for a year and a half.
