Regular Young Guns are not rare these days.... rarity always wins in the long term.

Rarity over Grade any day of the week. I'd go with the Young Guns Exclusives /100.

Hard choice, both are cool cards, but my first choice would be the Exclusive.

You make a good point. Anywhere we can find info as to when YGs got less and less rare?

I prefer the graded ones with the plate not sliding down in the case.
Unlike the one graded YG I’ve ever bought.
On this site.
Yeah, I’m talking to you.

I'll take the rare card that can still be graded later on. Even if it's a lesser grade e.g. PSA 8 or 9, it's still competing against just 99 others that can be graded compared to a 'pop report' that has the potential to have 100+ PSA 10s depending on the player.

Makes sense, ive noticed Young Guns up until 2010 being more rare.

Yeah, Upper Deck started epack in 2015-16. It was probably both due to cashing in on the McDavid craze and also because it was a more fiscally efficient way to do business.
Outside of McDavid and Auston Matthews, young guns drop precipitously once they hit epack.
As for rarity, for some reason, 2014-15 Series 2 (Pastrnak, Vasivlesky and others) seem kind of rare compared to the previous several years and certainly compared to years thereafter. I'm sure you can check the respective pop reports to verify this if you dispute the notion. I also suppose I could check the pop report to confirm but I won't. I just know what a Pastrnak YG costs me versus a comparable player in other S1 or S2 issue.

You are correct. 2014-15 S2 was printed in much less quantity than S1.
How else can you explain a Bo Horvat YG consistently selling in the $75-$100 range? And Pasta is right through the roof.

Brief anecdote. For Father's Day in 2017, one of Blowouts competitors was giving away the fat packs of 2014-15 UD S2 with purchases of a certain amount. I had asked my wife for a box of 16-17 UD, I believe it was S2.
The fat pack I hit a Pastrnak YG that graded a 9.5. Not really a big hit at the time but I'm a bruins fan so I was happy.
The box of S2? Matthews Canvas YG that is now a BGS 10.

One thing I appreciate about the older young guns(year 2000-2009) is that there isnt so many different versions as now. ie: acetate, clear cut, retro, rainbow, canvas etc.

2014-15 series 2 is some of the most short printed in recent memory.
You would get almost an exclusive per box and a high gloss per case.
There's no Hobby boxes anywhere.
I opened a crap load of it at $40 per hobby box....

Gonna just put my guess for a future consideration I would Expect upper deck to change the odds for Young Guns instead of 1:4 to 1:6 across the board .They already slowly shrinking pack and box sizes over the years its the next step and have been spreadin all other Short Print/inserts over more packs. especially 2020-21
