I seem to remember that a couple of people on here had smart methods for removing scratches from slabs. I couldn’t find the answer after a quick search. Let me know what works for you. Thanks!

Arm & Hammer toothpaste will get scratches off most glass and plastics (the ones that have baking soda, non-gel).

Car polish. Maguiar's gets the scratches out. Don't use it on your cards, though...that counts as "restoration".

Car polish works great. I've also used their PlastX Plastic Cleaner and it works really well too.

I put a small amount on the slab, hand buff in, dry, buff out. I follow it up with a perfect fit sleeve.

Check out my scanning guide linked in my signature. Section 3.5 is on fixing scratched slabs.

I have wet sanded many a beaten BGS slab to a mirror shine. Just put blue tape along the edges or compound can get into the cracks.

So let me get this straight - you ( not you OP - I’m assuming you bought the case scratched and are trying to correct it ) are a card collector, and cared enough to have your raw card slabbed ( unless it’s been sold multiple times, and scratched along the way ) - but didn’t care enough to store or it handle it carefully, so as to keep its hard plastic case from getting all jacked up?

I despise scratches on slabs, and it’s not the slabs fault. It is done by unimaginable demons of the collecting world, who don’t care to take care of their stuff! Case scratchers should be publicly humiliated, walk barefoot on hot stones, have rotten food thrown at their heads on their way to being tied to a stake in the public square, where they should be tarred & feathered, stoned, drawn and quartered, and have their now separated torso and limbs burned! Maybe then the other town folk will have fear in their hearts ...... force them to appreciate and protect / preserve their slabs!

I have gem mint ( corners, edges, surfaces ~ FASC condition ), very thin cardboard wax boxes, with no tears in the even more delicate factory shrink wrap, with any / all price or barcode stickers carefully removed; area de-gummed ( little vegetable oil on a paper towel ) then that spot gently cleaned with soap and water on a paper towel / dried with a soft, lint free cloth, individually and carefully wrapped in a bubble wrap protective cocoon - not too tight or loose, packed single layer in sturdy shipping boxes, with the lid and any handle holes taped up to help block moisture, light, insects, dust and minimize internal temperature variations ..... and they can’t keep the hard plastic that houses their “cherished” collectible safe from damage?!

OP - auto rubbing compound and a rag should do the trick nicely :)!

I hate having scratches on cases especially when it detracts from viewing. The cards I buy I have to hunt for, so if the slab is munged up I need to have a way to improve it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have some Meguiar’s Plastic on the way!

Scratches suck indeed. Good luck! I hope you are able to rub one out.
