View Full Version : Does This Carl Yaz Auto Look Legit?

I have a decent amount of cards, and most of them are not really worth anything. But I love them all. I bought them mostly in the 80’s and 90’s, through various channels, including some yard sales. I have recently started looking at my collection again and getting back into the hobby, and I came across this Carl Yastrzemski card. Nothing special, but I remember buying this at a card show back in the late 90’s. Does the signature look legit? How would I go about getting this verified or certified? I know the card is not worth much, regardless of the authenticity of the autograph. But I am just curious.
Thanks.

My advice is just to compare with google images of "Carl Yastrzemski Signature". He signs a lot. You can also ship it to Beckett or PSA to have them authenticate it, but that may take a long time and be expensive.
While I'm no expert, it looks legit to me.

While PSA makes some egregious mistakes, this is still your best bet. Raiderguy is an asset to the community for running this each year.

It looks good, but lots of forgeries from the 90s do at first glance and even second glance. Even with PSA certification I am skeptical of any auto from that time period. The FBI famously estimated that at least 70% of sports autos were fake in the 90s. Unfortunately, fakes were not just limited to the biggest names either. One thing that people might look for are sigs with personalizations. These are less likely to be faked and offer more opportunity to test handwriting.

Looks like you have had the unfortunate meeting of this man. Had a friend deal with him years back and can corroborate he’s a real piece of work
